Spells Trouble opens with typical teenage antics, a group of friends is partying by a lake...for me, that immediately turned me off. I don't usually pick up books with all the high school drama. Obviously, I went into this book knowing it was geared toward YA, but it felt very young teen. Don't get

me wrong, that's just fine if that's what you expect going in, but sadly, I didn't. I was hoping for a more witchy, more mature YA novel and this just wasn't it.

The twins, Hunter and Mercy, have lost their mother on their birthday and in steps the family's cat, who's now a human...okay, witches, but what? Even the cat/woman is very...immature. The story as a whole could have been so great and was definitely intriguing if you can get past some of the annoyances, but I think with more fleshed out characters and less teenage drama, I would've definitely given more stars.

I'm sure this book will appeal to a lot of readers, I just wasn't one of them. Thank you to Wednesday Books for the ARC to read and honestly review.

The first book in a trilogy written by a mother daughter team that is totally geared to teen girls. The plot involves twin girls who are modern day witches whose family dates back to the 1600's in Salem. They currently live in a town named for their family - Goodeville. They must keep a group of

ancient trees alive to keep portals closed that will release evil into our world. When their mother is killed this leads to a series of other negative events Another message the book is drenched in is that all males are bad and and all females are good. The one decent male (Jax) is a total nothing of a character. OK but only for teen girls.

I read this all the way through. Something I'm still unable to pinpoint left me feeling it lacking, Possibly the sisters seeming easy to confuse at times, or the plot not hooking me as much as most books I read. Others will find this a dandy read, but it wasn't compelling to me.

I have a "Goode" in my family tree so reading this from past to present and seeing how the transition progressed was really fun! A great read!
P.S. The Cover is GORGEOUS!!

Fun Read

A fairly simple but compelling story that interweaves five stains of mythology with classic Wicca. The epilogue does leave you wanting more.

I was given an ARC of this book by Netgalley for my honest review.
Another fabulous book by P. C. and Kristin Cast!
Even though this is a YA book, this older witchy woman thoroughly enjoyed it. Some people may not be into, or understand, the “witchy thing”, but will surely enjoy the paranormal

aspect of this story. And, I discovered some new names and information about a couple of Gods that I hadn’t known before. (Thanks to the authors and Google! lol) Also, I plan on ordering the hardcover just so I can re-read this over and over.
