The author of this moderately interesting pamphlet explores a theological foundation for pastoral care, to provide nourishment for the carer, a vision for care, and help to identify the appropriate preparation for this work. Also, she looks for how Quakerism grounds the understanding of the work.

Pastoral care should be distinct from professional problem-solving care; it is a process of mediating God's love to others and to the world. It calls for presence, fellowship, communion, and commitment. It is reconciliatory and healing. It is done to build the community closer to God's vision for us all.
