The first time I had a go at this book was way back in the late 1980s. I never got past the first three or four chapters because I was young and easily distracted, but those first few chapters gave me the impression that this was a user friendly, step by step introduction to the Polish language.

Now, over twenty years later, I finally made the effort to read further into the book, only to find that the chapters become increasingly more complex and less helpful. By chapter 15 or so I was no longer reading a 'teach yourself Polish' book but rather some kind of reference book on Polish grammar. No doubt I will return to it when I need to check up on some point of grammar, but as far as actually learning the language is concerned, I will have to look elsewhere. And this is a polyglot speaking here. Show Less
