Description

It's a prime ingredient in countless substances from cereal to soup, from cola to coffee. Consumed at the rate of one hundred pounds for every American every year, it's as addictive as nicotine -- and as poisonous. It's sugar. And "Sugar Blues", inspired by the crusade of Hollywood legend Gloria Swanson, is the classic, bestselling expose that unmasks our generation's greatest medical killer and shows how a revitalizing, sugar-free diet can not only change lives, but quite possibly save them.

Do not read this book. I first read it in 1980 and have never forgotten its message. It will forever change the way you think about sugar.

A diatribe on eating sugar. How it affects one's health (negatively) and brings on various diseases. The reason for the 4 star rating is the covering of the history of sugar in this book. A very interesting and highly researched endeavor by the author. I thing this would be a must read.

Sugar Blues explains the history, and evils, of processed white sugar~ from the genesis of the Triangle Slave Trade to modern disease. The author includes not only interesting history, but also his own dramatic experience, in what is sure to be a life-changing book for the reader. Down with sugar!

I was shocked by how much was known about the effects of refined sugar on the human body, before the collective amnesia brought on by the industrial food system and its lobbyists in the 20th century. This is a must-read book for anyone looking to improve their health. There is no "everything in

Groundbreaking book on how we are fooled by sugar and how it's foisted upon us by corporate America.
