I inherited this cookbook when my mother died. It is full of the old time goodies, Swiss Steak, Jambalaya, Stroganoff and many soups, side dishes and deserts. I love using this book, though I've cooked out of it for twenty years, so I'm often just checking on the amount of ingredients I need for

any particular dish. My son, who is a Line-chef, sometimes calls me and asks for one of the recipes from this book. It's a primer of good, old fashioned cooking, except it does pay heed to the dietary needs of our generation. Show Less

Only giving this one three stars for now; need to cook more recipes out of it. A very good general cookbook for someone starting out. Most ingredients are staples that you would have on hand in any normal kitchen. Lots of variety too.

A cook book which proves that you don't have to sacrifice taste for economy.

This is a great cookbook, filled with quick, easy recipes with ingredients that I tend to have on hand most of the time already. It'd be great for a beginning cook as it includes lots of tips and tricks, and the instructions are very explicit.
