Local notes

Set in Morocco, this is the story of a young man growing up in the slums with his'widow' mother. He discovers that his real father is a wealthy businessman across town. His disenchantment with life turns to pleasure as his father makes room for him in his life. Rejection then follows due to pressure from the father's wife and Youssef sinks inwardly to find solace in the extremism of the local 'Party'
