And so began the hazardous trip to West Point with the ill lieutenant through territory swarming with Redcoats, finding out about the American victory in the Battle of Stony Point and, at last, the chance to carry the news about General Anthony Wayne to Morristown and reach safety over the secret Corduroy Road.
