The Boy Scouts' Victory

by George Durston

Hardcover, 1921

Brief description:

From the dust jacket:

A Greek boy, who is in West Point at the time all Europe is becoming involved in World War I, is summoned home to Greece because of the serious illness of his father, Count Zaidos. Before he can reach his father’s side, however, he is pressed into service, starting army life as a stoker on-a transport ship. When a submarine torpedo shatters the vessel, Zaidos leaps into the sea. Keeping himself afloat, he witnesses a most thrilling sea fight involving four great battleships and a huge Zeppelin.

When the battle is over, he is picked up by a Red Cross ship. He receives a leg injury which
incapacitates him for active soldier duty, but as soon as the leg mends he throws himself wholeheartedly into Red Cross duty on the front. His early Boy Scout training makes him a cheerful, quick, and skillful first-aider.
