I am going to give Mr. Jones four stars on the Wolves of Winter. The Continuation of what began in the Essex Dogs is solid, enjoyable and establishes much more personality for the small group of mercenaries fighting in France for the English. This story connects things up nicely and tends to be a

little grittier than the first. (Did not think that was possible.) The long-term effects of war on men who have endured much of their life in battle is prevalent. Some are numb to it and others not so much. The writing is seamless and moves the reader forward at a good clip.
The introduction of the Flemish mercs is rather comical and you can smell things best left unmentioned. It seems much of the book revolves around Romford and his issues, but he does seem to find his place.... if not for a little while. There are some surprises in The Wolves of Winter and as always it seems Mr. Jones has upped his game. There will be much more in this review once the initial reading has been absorbed.
