Witches and vampires don't get along? Who knew? Very fun and far more elements than romance. Romance is the smallest element in this mystery/paranormal thriller. I found this very enjoyable and a darn good read.

I liked "50 Ways to Hex Your Lover". The heroine, Jasmine, was someone I would love to go partying with, and the hero, Nikolai, was one hot vamp.

Jazz and Nik have a long history, 300 years or so worth. The problem is he keeps having her arrested, and then says he's only doing it to keep her safe!
Jazz decided 30 years ago...No more Nik. So what the heck is her doing here now, and why is he asking for her help? Turns out an evil they thought they had eradicated in 1932 managed to get away, and it's apparently up to Nik and Jazz to do the job right this time.

I'm pretty sure this is my first Linda Wisdom book. I did enjoy reading about Jazz and Nik and would definately pick up another book about this interesting duo. But, I was definately left with questions about their relationship. Was Nik waiting for Jazz to grow more powerful? How can they really have a relationship is her blood is poison to his kind? Why is the Witches Council loaded with bitches? Why did Nik leave the Protectorate?

Anyway, I'm hoping there is another Nik and Jazz book so I can have my questions answered, but I still had a good time reading this one.

Jazz Tremaine was banished from the Witches Counsel for not following the rules. Everytime she makes a mistake, more time is added to her banishment. Jazz acts like she doesn't care though as she go about eliminating curses and driving for a limo service. She has her very human room-mate who she

adores, her bunny slippers that eat everything in sight, and Irma, the ghost who lives in her sports car. Things seemed to be going ok until he comes back to town. Nickolai and her go way back, like centuries, and he wants to hire her to help unravel the mystery of disappearing vampires. Nick is also a vampire and fears for his kind. Hooking back up with Jazz heats up the night, and they are soon hot on the case.

Very likeable characters, laugh-out loud lines, and a magical plot will have you flying through this one. Very imaginative and wonderful. I'll definately be on the look-out for the next one!

50 Ways to Hex Your Lover is more of a paranormal romantic suspense book rather than paranormal romance. It’s cute, lighthearted, and perfect for both a long drive from Chicago to Minneapolis and the time just around Halloween. The characters are enjoyable–Jazz drinks out of a “Wicked”

mug–and I really liked her fireball reactions with Nick.

Unfortunately, I started to lose interest in the “maniacal killer” and who’s killing the vampires. And Wisdom doesn’t expand the evil character as well as she could have through out the book (I didn’t understand his motives other than, well, escaping death). However she does a nice job of making him truly loathsome when he finally does enter the picture at the end of the book.

All in all, a nice read that entertained me.

This book looked awesome and the reviews made me run out and purchase it on a recent trip to the mall. Unfortunately, I felt let down. The plot seems interesting enough. Jazz is a witch cast out to live amoung humans for some slightly vague reason. She has been having a love/hate and off/on
Show More
relationship with a vampire for hundreds of years. The vampire hero was boring in my opinion and I never really felt him or the relationship between this vampire and the witch. Jazz was humourous. She had a big heart and was kind of offbeat, which I enjoyed. The bright spot of this book has to be its outstanding cast of supporting characters..(with the exception of her human roommate who also comes across as dull). These standouts include a nasty boss with a treasured adult toy collection, a disgusting monster that Jazz has to chauffer for a living, a ghost who was a housewife who is now forever stuck to Jazz's passenger seat in her car, and most especially a pair of bunny slippers who tend to sink their teeth into anything and anyone they come across. This book drug on for a really long time...I actually nodded off several times in the middle when I was reading, which I never do. The ending was pretty good, and I really liked how the finale came about with the 'shadows' getting their revenge. There was just too many parts that weren't exciting and the plot went nowhere. There were also too many sex scenes that just weren't fun either. I will be in no rush to pick up the follow up "Hex Appeal" but I do believe that Ms. Wisdom has the tools to make this series something special. Even with magic this one, however, fails.

First of all, I'd like to say that Ms. Wisdom's writing is incredible. Her characters were well developed and very easy to identify with. Jazz has a temper, boy and she reminds me so much of myself. But she has to stay on her best behavior for the fear that the Witches' High Council will add more

years to her banishment. Gotts watch those flying fireballs. In the beginning, verything seems to be going just her way, all the while working as a curse eliminator until Nick decides to come back into her life.

Vampires have come up missing and he needs her help. Although she resists him for the first part of the book, her body seems to have other things in mind, when it comes to Nick. And he feels pretty much the same way. She comes to find out that the man that she thought she had destroyed before is still alive and has developed some powerful magical powers.

Throughout the story, Jazz and Nick try to figure out where they are in their strange relationship all the while trying to figure out how to get rid of this killer for good and listening to Irma, her ghostly friend from the car, who nags her from the passenger seat and is very vocal when it comes to Nick. Then there is her roomate, Krebs, (who is a human and really doesn't like Fluff and Puff, cause they tend to get in trouble when she's not around) who she is trying to keep safe amongst all of this stuff.

The story is fast-paced and there is plenty of action to be had. The world that Ms. Wisdom has created for her stories is amazing. They mingle with each other whether they like it or not, per rules that they set themselves. Such as vampires don't like witches (except in Nick's case). I like the twists that she put about witches blood being bad for vampires. It's just amazing and I can't wait to read Hex Appeal to see what happens next!

This was a cute story. There was lots of humor and lots of romance. I liked the wide cast of characters and the personalities and descriptions of each. (Although on the back cover, it says that the ghost in Jazz's car is named Norma, but in the actual book, the ghost's name is Irma..hmm).

I actually hate giving this book 3 stars because I whole heartedly believe in the potential of the series. The world-building, the setting, the mythology use-it's all very intriguing. But this book fell short.

Chapel became a vampire when he drank from a mystical cup known as the Blood Grail,
Show More
having mistaken it for the Holy Grail. Six hundred years later, in the year 1899, Pru Ryeland is searching for the Holy Grail in hopes of curing her terminal illness. Chapel fears that what she will actually find is the Blood Grail and that she will become cursed as he believes he is cursed. But as he begins to fall in love with Pru, his belief in his own soul-less nature is challenged.

The use of history and mythology is fun, interesting, and well put together. The time period and setting is rich and unique, and in fact is one of the few things that sets this book apart from other paranormal writings.

Chapel is a surprisingly sexy, if somewhat frustrating character. He is loyal, determined, and fun. His love for Pru is heartbreaking.

First of all, Pru's terminal illness is-it's never given an exact name, so I assume uterine cancer-the biggest plot point/conflict in the book. I am not at all making light of cancer but it's presence in the story is,dare I say, drawn out to the point of dull? We expect her to be saved, obviously, whether she finds the Holy Grail or becomes a vampire. But it takes THE ENTIRE BOOK. We are forced to watch Chapel hem, haw, and struggle with his own self-pity while the love of his life suffers unnecessary pain.

And Pru's cancer is a seriously painful one. I don't know how well Smith researched the disease but I happen to know from what I've witnessed that 1)Even early stage cancer patients are often exhausted, suffer from easy bruising, and tend to have compromised immune systems, and 2) The physical reality of advanced uterine cancer does not usually allow for any kind of comfortable sexual relationship. So the fact that Pru is so active right up until the very end is seriously problematic.

Despite all of this, I still have high hopes for the series. While I did not care for the terminal illness plot-line, I enjoyed Smith's style and imagination.

Jazz is a witch, trying to make her way in the world after being banished several centuries ago. Nick is a vampire, and recently left his job with the vampire ruling body to become an independent investigator. Although witches and vampires tend to avoid each other, Jazz and Nick have a volatile

past, where their love is intertwined with fearsome arguments. When their past comes back in the form of Clive Reeves, Jazz and Nick are reunited once again. They must survive each other, and Clive, to save the world.

I was completely charmed by this book. While it was predictable, it was fast paced. The suspense was intermixed with the delightful characters (would a pair of voracious bunny slippers ordinarily be considered a character? They were reminiscent of a certain Monty Python bunny, but in slipper form. Unexpected and welcome in this story!) Even the less-than-savory characters were well written and unique, even if they were relatively two-dimensional. The back story between Nick and Jazz was revealed when necessary, and not just dumped on the reader.

This was a fun way to spend a rainy day!

It was a fun story but to much sex details. Jazz is a 700 year old witch who lifts curses of people and things. jazz also drives a limo. Nick is a vampire PI. he and jazz have been lovers over the years and break up when to protect her he gets her arrested many times. Something is making vampires

Fun little Rom-Com that just happens to be about a witch and a vampire.

This is not my genre but the book was ok. It kept me entertained. The main heroine Jazz had too much of a bad attitude for my liking. I did like Irma and the bunny slippers!

Fun and a good read. I'm not a fan of vampire stories, but this one is more a witch tale than a vampire story. I thought the ending was a bit rushed, but other than that, it was great.

Jazz has been in the world a long time. She and her class mates were dismissed from Witches Academy and sentenced to make her way in the world. Right now she is making ends meet by driving for a supernatural limo service and removing curses for people. But when her long lost love, and sexy vampire,
Show More
Nick, comes back into her life Jazz is drawn into an investigation that brings back bad memories and places Nick and Jazz in grave danger.

This book was fun. Jazz and the cast of supporting characters are really just that, characters. It takes a couple of minutes to get into the world but once you are there just hold on for the ride. I plan to read the next book in the series.

This book could have been better. It was entertaining and a fast read, and the characters were likable enough. The story built well, but the ending was rather anticlimactic and I felt a bit let down by it. A better ending (with more struggle for the protagonist) would have been a lot more

satisfying. The reader was also left with a lot of questions that weren't answered, and as far as I know, this book is not supposed to be part of a series, so it should have wrapped up everything at the end. Still, a mostly entertaining read.

I really liked this book - it was a fun, quick, light read with great characters and a story line that held my attention. It's a book that I'll re-read from time to time in the future as well.

I really enjoyed this. Jazz was a believable heroine in a world in which magic and the paranormal is not only present but in the open. Her bete noire is the vampire Nikolai Gregorivich, gorgeous and irresistible to Jazz, which frustrates her and had ended up with her being locked up repeatedly over
Show More
the years.
This opening book sets up the background world for Jazz and Nick to operate in and has some really interesting ideas which are well fleshed out. Jazz is a witch, being punished along with her fellow witchy sisters for a transgression against a member of the nobility some 300 odd years ago, every time she uses her magic inappropriately, she gets time added to her sentence.
When she met Nick again she almost immolated him and Linda Wisdom perfectly portrays the dismay Jazz feels when she realises that she still has the hots, metaphorically speaking, for a guy who is technically dead.
There is some wonderful humour in the book, along with great characters and the plot, which concerns vampires going missing, is believable within the world the author has created.
If I had one criticism, it would be that I would have liked a bit more background to the whys of Jazz and her fellow witches' casting out to wander the earth until their punishment had been served.

I read this book for what I call a "candy read" meaning it'll be fast, full of delicious calories, and not requiring me to do anything but enjoy it. It was all that.

Nick the hot vampire who has been her lover for over 300 years has arrived in town and he's not welcome after the way they parted. He is starting a new life and needs Jazz's help and wants her back in his bed. *He is good, really good* it is not easy the hurt runs deep.
There are deaths in the vampire community. The two must work together. This is sometimes funny, and sometimes dangerous. They delve into dangerous dark places and meet some interesting beings.
I enjoyed this paranormal romantic comedy. It was light, funny and had just enough mystery and sexy moments to keep it interesting.
