About

It’s Russ MacCraven’s first time performing at a renaissance festival, and he has no idea what he’s gotten himself into. The classes and rehearsals could only prepare him for just so much. Just after the cannon at the opening gate of the first performance day, Russ crosses paths with a dashing man he knows will be his soulmate. The problem is that Brace Dumont, ace jousting Knight and man about the festival, isn’t ready to come out of the closet, and Jane Dare, the woman who believes she has Brace’s heart, doesn’t want Russ hanging around influencing him in that direction.
Things take a sinister turn when Jane is found dead impaled with Russ’s stolen weapon, and all the clues point to Russ. Just when he is starting to make headway with Brace, he is suddenly the prime suspect in the death of his supposed rival for Brace’s affection. A suspicious police chief with a prejudice against gay people stands to turn Russ’s world inside-out as he investigates the faire’s newest actor/swordsman. Brace continues to distance himself from Russ as the plot deepens, and Russ begins to get desperate. Will Russ win Brace’s love? Will he avoid a murder rap or face prison time for murder? Who killed Jane Dare, and why? This may be Russ’s first renaissance faire but could be his last.
