Newly elected Congressman Connor Daniels and his military liaison, Lieutenant Elijah (Eli) Fullerton, are on an overseas mission with little hope of success. They want to find a missing American man whose partner had been murdered in the street for being openly gay.
As they started, nothing seemed to go well. They had one bit of luck, but as they chased that lead, everything crashed around them when the military staged a violent coup and overthrew the national government.
Stranded in a remote backwater, Connor and Eli are on their own to get back to the capital. Their only alternative is to walk, grumbling and arguing from fear as well as their exhausting journey. But they learn to trust one another and work together, growing close through their shared nightmare.
