About

Grayson Dwyer grew up on a fruit farm in the Northern Territory of Australia near Darwin, only a few kilometers east of Humpty Doo. He loved working on the farm with his dad. Tragedy struck the family with the death of his father when he was only seventeen. To help make ends meet, he began riding bulls for the Australian Professional Bull Riders. He was so good, that his wins in Australia lead him to Las Vegas where he won the world PBR title and a three million US dollar prize.

Life is good for Grayson until a few years after his big win. He was found next to a dead body in a hotel room in Darwin. His long-time rival, Owen Smith, was dead from a gun shot wound to his head. Grayson was convicted of murder and sentenced to twenty years behind bars.

Toby Cooper was born in Adelaide. His parents divorced when he was seven and his mother took him to Chicago, leaving his father in Australia nearly sixteen thousand kilometers away. He spent all his summers in Australia with his dad. After graduating college, Toby joined the US Marines. Four years later, Captain Cooper is on deployment with the Australian Army in Darwin. It was his last deployment. He had plans to separate from active duty and move to Australia in search of a new life where he could be closer to his father.

Toby’s best mate since childhood is his cousin, Asher Cooper. Asher runs a rustic resort across the bay from Darwin on Wagait Beach. Toby stays in one of the cabins while searching for his next move in life.

Grayson owns a mansion on the beach right next to the resort. After his conviction is overturned due to faulty forensics, Grayson hides out from the paparazzi in his beach house for almost a year when his dog, Dingo, steals Toby’s favorite Chicago Cubs ball cap and buries it in the back garden.

Due to the little thief dog, Toby and Grayson meet. The two begin a journey on a bumpy road to finding themselves and discovering each other. As Toby and Grayson travel the physical and emotional landscape of the Outback, the search for the real killer of Owen Smith is always weighing heavy on Grayson’s mind.
