TV writer Alex is having a bad day. Humiliated by his soap star ex-boyfriend and about to get fired for being far too American to write for a British period drama, London is cripplingly lonely for this gay Black man from the South Side of Chicago.
Alex agrees to join his rough and ready Scottish flatmate, Siobhan, on a trip back home to the Isle of Mull. After some whisky-soaked Celtic hospitality, Alex meets the mysterious flame-haired fisherman Fergus, long an icon of derision for the gossiping classes of Mull.
