The year is 1891 and at the height of Summer, the newly appointed Lord Lester Dirkwood is hosting a birthday celebration weekend where he has invited a selection of friends to join in with the festivities. One such guest is his old university friend Dr Ezra Alexander.
After a rocky coach journey Ezra, his partner Charlie and his new acquaintance Maud begin to relax on the sprawling Dirkwood Estate. Lester is a mystical and lively host, but foremost an entertaining one. When Lester unveils his sudden interest in contacting the spirit world to his guests, events start to unravel and soon Ezra is confronted with a body.
Yet certain twists of fate leave Ezra and his friends with even more questions than answers. He is forced to draw from his own instincts rather than trust in stone cold evidence.
Someone is behind the tricks that are taking place and as Ezra pushes closer towards the truth, the killer doubles down in concealing their identity. Ezra must look past the obvious and explore the unknown if he has any hope in catching the guilty party.
