Stay with Me stands as a prime example of why Becky Wade rates as one of my favorite contemporary romance writers. So many elements worked together to form this beautiful story. It had Pride and Prejudice quotes, laugh-out-loud humor, emotional drama, family secrets, and an unfolding romance. The
Show More
story held my attention as the characters dealt with tough issues such as prescription drug addiction, trauma, and following God’s leading. To me, the story didn’t feel dark or heavy, but I recognize that it could be more difficult for those who know someone struggling with prescription drug addiction or have fought that battle themselves. Thankfully, there is so much hope and truth in Stay with Me.

As I reviewed my notes on Stay with Me, I found seventeen topics or issues that the novel touched on. There are probably some that I missed. Though the story taps so many issues, it focuses in on only a few and wraps up beautifully in the end. I recommend Stay with Me to readers who enjoy contemporary romances with plenty of character development and spiritual truths.

Stay with Me by Becky Wade debuts as the first full-length novel in the Misty River Romance series. There is a prequel, Take a Chance on Me, in which Sam appears as a minor character; however, it is not necessary to read the prequel.

Talk about a book that pulls you in and doesn't let go to the end! This one will have you quickly looking for answers, and will they all unfold?
One story line quickly became another, and then another, and on, more like real life!
When I think of it, we have survivors here, from what? Life, and all
Show More
that goes with it, and most you really won't see coming, most you would not imagine, and yet, the secrets started to fall.
Through it all, there is a love of God, that is so strong and yet we are all sinners, but they never loose their faith!
There is a sense of loss with the last page turning, but, there are going to be more, I just don't know which of the survivors story we will see, so stay tuned!

You simply cannot go wrong with a Becky Wade book. She is a masterful storyteller and I've enjoyed her books for years.

Stay With Me launches the Misty River romance series, with quiet and solitary Sam Turner finding a beautiful, peculiar intruder in his guesthouse. I felt their chemistry
Show More
immediately, but it wasn't overdone. She is his polar opposite but despite wanting to keep his distance, feels a persistent pull toward her. Genevieve is dealing with a serious secret, a dependency on prescription pain medication, as well and trying to unearth secrets her parents may have buried.

This is a spellbinding, begin-again story. It deals with hard and heavy subject matter--opioid addiction--yet softens the edges with God's guidance and grace. I love the way Genevieve's addiction is addressed, and how it doesn't overtake the deeper story of discovering and rediscovering our true path.

The story is the perfect blend of sweet romance, mystery, and discovery. The characters are easy to love, easy to connect with, and I can't wait to return to Misty River.

I received a complimentary copy of this book.

Whew! Once again I have been reminded me of the power of God's love and the wonder of God's grace and it wasn't from the Holy Bible. I just finished Stay With Me and I doubt that I can write words that will fully do it justice. Author Becky Wade transported me into one person's struggle to recover
Show More
from opioid addiction after a serious injury and another person's determination to live his life alone, using several underlying stories and a shocking mystery to reach her goal. As I learned about Genevieve Woodward's near-death experience as a young girl I gained understanding as to why she has dedicated her life to leading others to God. As Sam Turner's guilt over his girl friends's death comes to light it becomes clear why he is determined to live a 'safe life' by focusing on diet, exercise, sleep, and work. It also explains why he is so determined to keep Genevieve from traveling a path to destruction but it does come at a cost. By allowing himself to befriend her and to eventually fall in love with her, he realizes that safety isn't always good and solitude is against God's Plan. God wants us to enjoy a sense of community and to interact with His other children.

Stay With Me is a powerful story of honesty, acceptance, forgiveness, and trust and it has everything that I enjoy in Christian fiction! A heartwarming romance, a mystery to be solved, and a hero and heroine who are special, but oh, so flawed! They aren't perfect and this is why I loved them so much. Wade has proven herself to be a master in writing Christian romance and I wish that I could give it a higher rating than 5 stars. I can't wait to read the second book in the Misty River Romance series.

I received a copy of this book from the author and Prism Book Tours. There was no obligation for a positive review. These are my honest thoughts.

By now, I am pretty much certain that I will love anything Becky Wade writes, so it is no surprise that I loved Stay With Me.

With an anonymous letter in hand, Genevieve Woodward returns to her hometown to dig into her family’s past—and perhaps, deal with a secret of her own. Sam Turner has his
Show More
own past, which he has struggled to overcome, and Genevieve has the potential to upset it all.

As these characters work through the mystery and secrets, the hardships and burdens, Wade crafts a story that balances the more serious aspects with lighthearted and humorous moments, making Stay With Me a page-turning romance. It took my heart on a journey, and (I know I already said this, but) I loved it. So, so, so much. I highly recommend this book and cannot wait for the series to continue in Let It Be Me.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and the opportunity to provide an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review, and all the opinions I have expressed are my own.

When we meet Genevieve she is not at her best. She is driving but having a hard time keeping the car under control and she stops at a cabin. The cabin turns out to be unlocked, and Genevieve manages to get inside and falls asleep on the bed. When the owner of the cabin - Sam - finds her there in
Show More
the morning he is not pleased. Genevieve has intruded upon his neatly ordered world, but he also sees signs of drug abuse - signs he knows all to well. It turns out Genevieve was traveling to her parents house, where she was going to talk to them about an anonymous letter she received threatening to reveal secrets about their past. It turns out that Genevieve is a Christian speaker and author - and her fame has prompted someone to make these threats. More concerning to Sam, however, is Genevieve's dependence on pills (Oxycontin) to make it through her days. So when she asks him if he can stay in her cabin (bungalow - as she calls it) while she digs into her family's past, he makes her agree to detox from the pills - or else he will be forced to tell what he knows. Genevieve agrees, and the process is not easy but with Sam's help as well as that of her sister and a therapist she starts to recover from her addiction. Sam and Genevieve also start to feel an attraction toward each other. But Sam has secrets of his own - and so do Genevieve's parents - so there is a lot that has to happen before the expected happy ending can occur.
I enjoyed this romance, it dealt with some hairy issues - like Genevieve's addiction - in a fairly realistic way, though her recovery was maybe a bit to easy. I also felt like there were some loose ends that weren't tied up at the end. But overall it was a very satisfying romance. I really liked some of the characters, they were very memorable. And the pace was just right for me - not to fast but not so slow that I lost interest - the author threw in some good subplots to keep the action moving. I would definitely recommend this - for fans of Christian romances that don't shy away from real life issues.
