Description
Berebury golf course in the county of Calleshire is an unlikely place for a murder. Set in pleasant landscape and boasting a splendid view of the town of Berebury, the golf course is more situated to fun and games than murder and mayhem. So when flirtatious golfing beginner Helen Ewell goes in search of a wayward golf ball in the dreaded "Hell's Bells" bunker she is not prepared for the horrible surprise that lies buried beneath the soft sand.

A very old-fashioned style of crime story which I'm afraid didn't really appeal. Another problem for me was the fictional location of Berebury and "Calleshire", which gave no clue to its supposed location within the UK. I like to be able to visualise where stories are set and fictional places which

Lots of dry British dialogue, clues fairly placed before the reader. So confusing, that after I finished it, I read it backwards to understand it. More or less contemporary, published in 2005, but not a lot that is contemporary about the setting.
