And the future she sees is her own--filled with murder! For Cassie, her power was frightening. Firmly linked to A Touch of the Beast - in time and in causes. In fact, the events at the beginning of this one lead to A Touch of the Beast - and events at the end of ATotB lead to the adventure part of this one! I don't really think much of either character - they kind of bland out in my memory.

But while the story was going on they behaved appropriately (actually, so did the villains). The obsession with the cabin and the way it's _not_ a deus ex machina come out interesting. And the cavalry are a little behind the times...Quite decent and a good portion of the whole story.
