Description

This vintage book contains a famous cookbook written by Fannie Farmer in the nineteenth-century. It is an extensive and comprehensive general reference cookbook which is still being reprinted and updated to this day. It is famous for a more rigorous approach to writing recipes than had been common up to that point, and is still a useful cooking resource for modern readers. Easy-to-digest and full of interesting recipes and handy tips, this book would make for a great addition to any collection of cooking literature. It is not to be missed by the discerning collector. Basic but thorough. makes a great going off to college gift. My son requested a copy so he could learn to make french toast.

Iowa. Margarine sold in Minnesota could not have added color, thanks to the influence of the dairy industry. Someday I'll perhaps cook something from this book. It belonged to my grandmother and is inscribed with her name and the date - Dec 1928. I'm not really sure what this book was doing during the past 40 years - my aunt gave it to me a couple of years ago and my grandmother died in the early 1970's.

This was in my family from 1942. Passed on every generation since. Invaluable, even if many preparation details are out of date.
