I treasure some of the recipes in the two volumes of "The Vegetarian Epicure," especially for quiche and Mideastern meze. The revised edition of the book that came out in the 1990s was not as good. I put a lot of effort into some of its recipes, only to be disappointed.

I used this book and book two extensively in the 70s. Lots of very delicious recipes. And i love the whistful cover art and the illustrations.

I love the feel of these books. And that fact that she chose the word "epicure" over "gourmet". And, face it, this was groundbreaking in the field of vegetarian cooking.

This is a classic that belongs on the bookshelf of anyone who cooks. Personally, I'm omnivorous, but there are dishes in here I can't live without. With a renewed interest in vegetarian cuisine for health reasons, this book is making a much deserved comeback.

One of the books which I know I can trust. I LOVE the Mushrooms berkeley recipe, which our family always calls "Dark and Evil" when it appeals on the table. It's starting to fall apart from use, but I'd never be without it.

Best German apple pancake recipe ever!

A more than decent cookbook, but the end of the intro made me raise my eyebrows.
