Oh, I like this. I picked it up then had to go read An Order of Protection because the author's foreword said that the heroine's story really started in that book. And it did, though that wouldn't have interfered with my enjoyment of this one - that is, having read that book made it clearer what

started her into her situation in this book, but it wasn't necessary to understand what was going on here. I did think that Roan should have told the Senator that focusing all their attention on Mary was a good way to make sure the real killer got away - but first he would have had to introduce some doubt into the Senator's mind and I'm not sure he could have done that. Ah well, it worked in the end. There's a lot of little neat things, as Mary starts to belong to the community - 'the town is behind you', Cat's treatment of her, her discussion with the other shopkeeper during Boomtown Days - just nice little bits. And somehow, although they were (romance-normally) wildly attracted to each other and trying to convince themselves it was a bad idea, it didn't strike me as quite so contrived as most romances. All in all - I like this one, I think the best of the Starrs series so far. Show Less
