This is really the 2nd part of a 2 part series, it really starts in the middle of the story. Somehow Grimes and his ship are marooned in time and space, far from Earth. Somehow they have no navigational charts for their position, and must figure out how to get to Earth, then to the right time.

There's some interesting time travel references and paradoxes, but otherwise, this is short and not that great. For some reason Grimes has transformed from an interstellar playboy into a henpecked husband with a wife he doesn't even get along with! Not that it matters that much to the story, but it is a jarring change from earlier stories with the same character.
