Description

"The New York Times bestselling author of The Forgotten Room and Deep Storm is back with a new thriller that follows the trail of a killer who cannot exist. featuring Jeremy Logan, the renowned investigator of the supernatural and fantastic. Legends, no matter how outlandish, are often grounded in reality. This has been the guiding principle behind the exhilarating career of Jeremy Logan, the "enigmologist"--an investigator who specializes in analyzing phenomena that have no obvious explanation--previously seen in The Forgotten Room, The Third Gate, and Deep Storm. Logan has often found himself in situations where keeping an open mind could mean the difference between life and death, and that has never been more true than now. Logan travels to an isolated writers' retreat deep in the Adirondacks to finally work on his book when the remote community is rocked by the grisly discovery of a dead hiker on Desolation Mountain. The body has been severely mauled, but the unusual savagery of the bite and claw marks call into question the initial suspicions of a wild bear attack. When Logan is asked to help investigate, he discovers no shortage of suspects capable of such an attack--and no shortage of locals willing to point the finger and spread incredible rumors. One rumor, too impossible to believe, has even the forest ranger believing in werewolves. As Logan gets to know the remote deep-woods landscape, including a respected woman scientist still struggling with the violent loss of her father in these very woods, Logan realizes he's up against something he has never seen before. His most action-packed and white-knuckled novel to date, Full Wolf Moon is the perfect combination of exotic locales, provocative science, and raw action that make for a deeply entertaining Lincoln Child blockbuster"--… (more)

Not up to Child's past works. This one is long on description & short on believable story - entirely too far-fetched. There was very little character development and far too much speculative pseudo-science. I have enjoyed the authors previous books with Jeremy Logan as the primary character - but

not this one. Maybe time to give him a rest.

Adequate read. Barely. Professor Jeremy Logan heads to the Adirondacks to finish off a paper he's been working on. While there, he encounters an old college friend who is trying to solve 4 vicious murders that have occurred in the area, all during the full moon, and who believes there is something

"not right" about the murders.

While I enjoy stories with fantastical elements to them, I do not enjoy stories that feel contrived in their execution. This one certainly feels that way.

Jeremy Logan, investigator of the fantastic, the outlandish, and the supernatural, knows that reality grounds most legends. But the enigmalogist, determined to complete his long-unfinished monograph on heresy in the Middle Ages, is off to a writers’ retreat where there will be nothing unusual
Show More
clamoring for his investigative attention.

But an old friend, now a park ranger, seeks him out and Jeremy soon finds himself enmeshed in a mystery that threatens the lives of those around him, puts him squarely in harm’s way, and ends in tragedy.

With well-developed characters and the revelation of some interesting backstory for Jeremy, the narrative gains from the quick pace of the story and some unexpected twists in the plot. While astute readers may solve the puzzle long before its reveal, the story’s fast pace, intriguing premise, and strong characterization of the Adirondack surroundings will keep those pages turning.

Recommended.

This one is a slightly different take on a werewolf story that's actually more Jekyll and Hyde. I can't say I'm really taken with this series. The characters feel flat—not unlikable, exactly, but uninspired. Ditto for the prose.

I believe I would call this book a "near werewolf" tale. The story is written in a more relaxed style than the usual offerings from this author...so it may not be everyone's "cuppa tea". I even found myself wanting the story to speed up. The book is well written and the characters are interesting

but you have to spend some time getting to know them. Some of the ideas that the "research expert" had in his ever-so-secret lab was a bit far fetched but then so was a lot of the story to begin with. You just have to take it for what it is...an entertaining story with a very unusual take on the "Wolfman" concept.

Backpackers have turned up dead under a full moon, bodies horribly mutilated, and only enigmalogist Jeremy Logan is willing to consider an alternative explanation. A story with twists and turns, fast-moving, well-executed by a trusted author, one-half of the team that produced the Aloysius

Pendergast series of thrillers. Enjoyed the book a lot.

Cool book. Savage murders are occurring in the Adirondacks with each full moon. Could it be the work of a werewolf? Delves into a scientific explanation for werewolves.

I really like this series and the plot to this particular book was good. That being said, I felt like Child telegraphed the ending. The characters and narrative were up to the usual expectations that I have for his books and it was a good read, but I had the ending about 2/3 of the way through the

book. Still, it was a good story and I like the locale. The reader also gets a little bit deeper peek into Logan's life and past and once again Child creates an interesting and diverse cast of supporting characters.

Full Wolf Moon is a SciFi book. One has to accept the concept first of a werewolf then one can enjoy the story. Earnestly the author describes the science behind the condition of a human affected by the presence of a full moon, called lunar disease, it is still difficult to believe. Consequently,

This one was just ok for me. Though I like a good werewolf story and the origin of this beast was unique, it just didn’t grip me as I’d hoped. I liked most characters except the daughter. I feel she was selectively naive about things.
I had not read any of the earlier books in this series so
Show More
don’t know much about the protagonist background, perhaps I would have liked him more if I had. Doubt I will read any others.
