Blood ties can be murder-- especially if magic is involved. My name is Gypsy Shields. I'm a medium psychic and you would think I'd have seen it coming. My own murder. I'm a reluctant psychic who can't resist helping the underdog -- guess that's why I tried to interrupt a kidnapping and ended up getting hit by a van instead. Oh, and did I mention I can't talk to anyone? Stuck paralyzed in a hospital bed and running out of time, I'm dependent on detective Connor Reardon to investigate the case and save my life-- but Conner's concealing powers of his own. Secrets are abound at the corrupt police department. I have to rely on a guy who knows my attacker to protect me, as I can't protect myself. I guess a girl's gotta do everything in this world-- including prevent her own murder. ** This supernatural psychic suspense novel is paced in such a way you won't be able to stop turning the pages. Readers say they love the twists and the shocking ending… (more)

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Usually I'm not big on reading adult-type books, as I'm very firmly planted in my little world of YA and very happy there. So when I started this book, I wasn't too sure what to expect. And in all honesty. I was pretty pleasantly
Show More
surprised. It was engaging and entertaining and I read the whole thing from start to finish in one sitting.

Was it the best book I've ever read in my life? No, probably not. Did it have its problems? Yes, but they didn't make me hate it or want to stop reading. One main issue I had with the book was the fact that several of the "mysteries" weren't really all that mysterious. The characters had a habit of commenting quite a lot on other character's "weird behaviour recently" or how they seemed "not quite right" and that made it pretty easy to pick out who was doing what and where the bad guys were. I also found some of the relationships to be a little... clichéd? And don't even get me started on Gypsy in that last scene. I mean, slight overreaction possibly?

Overall a pretty solid book that was enjoyable and had me hooked from the first chapter. With that ending, I may be forced to continue on with this series to get some more Connor adventure and keep up with the characters.

This review is also posted on GoodReads.

Gypsy has a bit of telepathic ability which both gets her in trouble and helps her solve a mystery. Her young niece shares her abilities and her potential love interest, Connor, seems to have twinge of it as well. The plot is interesting, though it could be tighter, and makes a pleasant light read.

me to read this very amazing and nail biter book!!
Ms Drew brought her characters to life with such dynamics and such visualization. You are able to actually see Gypsy , her niece-Renee , Aaron and the remainder of the characters-how they interact an how each character evolves in the story. As for the scenes in her story. They are truly well defined. The way they are described you think at times that you are right there seeing everything through there eyes.
Here is a nibble of the story from mousiey... Enjoy!!!
As our story opens we find Gypsy trying to figure out what to wear for the get the together that her sister Leah had invited her to. She finally decided on something and rushed out the door. Noting that it was extremely cold outside and thought to herself why did she even decide to go out . She has everything in her flat, tv, music, warmth, drinks, she works out of her home. So why leave?? Oh well its to late she rushes down the street. When she arrives at the meeting place -that when she realizes that she has been set up by her sister. It has been almost a yr since her breakup with the love of her life- and it only took him just a matter of weeks to get over her. After a few minutes and a drink with the dashing the detective Conner Reardon. They have a conversation and agree to meet again to have coffee. The one thing that I have not told you is that is Gypsy is a physic -you read that right. She can see things and reach out and touch other minds ( at the moment it is only Renee that can connect to her). On her way home from the book club meeting, she interrupts a kidnappings and attempts to stop it. Unable to do so, the kidnapper ends up putting Gypsy in the hospital and almost killing her./ when she comes to after surgery-unable to speak-she reaches out to Renees mind and tells her what happened. Begging her to go to police headquarters and speak only to Conner. Explain to him what has happen and what she saw. He will understand. Now this is where the story really starts to get to be a nail biter. So much goes on from here on out. That you really need to read this book for yourself. I am so looking forward to reading more about Gypsy!! Ms Drews next book in this series is Gypsy Baby and is due out March 2015. Man oh man I really have to read that one after reading this one!!! I recommend this book for everyone- especially those that love a good mystery!! As for mousieys rating- well the Mouse gives it a 35 out of 5 stars. And I really really really need more GYPSY!!!! I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a nice read. I liked the story but had issues with timeline. It bothered me that certain events were happening too fast. Either we are dealing with medical miracle and record-breaking recovery from near fatal injuries

or the passing time was not properly presented. I would probably award it four stars if the events happened over couple of more weeks. Characters are likeable and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

I very much enjoyed the suspense as well as the twists and turns throughout this book. This book does move at a very fast pace and is thoroughly enjoyable. I had a slight issue with the timing in the hospital with Gypsy getting well so quickly
Show More
(or so it seemed) but I chalked it up to her being psychic (a telepath) so why can't she also be a very quick healer?

I find all the characters likable including the "bad" ones as well. It is such a well written tale.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes psychic fiction as well as suspense.

Apparently set somewhere in the UK, Gypsy is a telepath—a trait her niece also picked up. She’s introduced to Connor, a senior detective constable, by a friend at dinner on a Saturday night. When walking home she senses something wrong and walking down an alley witnesses a kidnapping.
Attempting to stop the driver from pulling away with the victim, she’s mowed down by the van. Due to bleeding on the brain and having surgery, she can’t speak or move her left side. But she’s got to get word to Connor about the kidnapping to save the woman’s life.

This has an interesting premise, but the story is a jumbled mess. The story is choppy with timeline and continuity issues and jumping from third person to first. It just doesn’t flow well and certain aspects don’t make sense. I almost set it down after a couple of pages when seeing Gypsy’s OCD issues. Funny but these issues don’t appear in any other aspect of her life.

The characters are missing depth and the sudden new abilities that both Gypsy and her niece exhibit aren’t believable. Abilities like these are similar to a muscle; you have to figure out how to use it, not just decide to see if it would work and be a master of it on the first try.

I had to struggle to finish the book and I’m sorry I did. Here I thought Gypsy was a good person, but by her vengeful actions, she proves she’s just as bad as the kidnapper.

Gypsy Hunted by Andrea Drew

Gypsy Shield is a psychic or as she refers to herself as an "intuition consultant". On her way home from a blind date with Detective Connor Reardon, she gets kidnapped and finds herself half paralyzed and unable to speak. With the help of her niece Renee, she is able to
Show More
use her telepathic ability to communicate and have her go to Connor for help. Connor is more than willing to help and he holds secrets of his own, and he has a strong suspicion that the kidnapper may be someone he knows quite well.

I really liked this story. Gypsy is very likable, plus her special abilities makes the story fun to read. Although the book is short, the reader does get to know Gypsy and Connor quite well. Also likable is her niece Renee, at thirteen years old she is wise for her years and will do anything for her Aunt. At times it becomes quite intense, a definite all night read. I highly recommend Gypsy Hunted to those who like psychics, drama and suspense.

I read a good book recently, y'all. Let me tell you a little about it. Gypsy Hunted is a psychic mystery suspense/thriller, book one in the Gypsy Shields series. The action in the book is told from multiple points of view, including that of Gypsy's hunter. The reader knows his/her identity, so the

case is only a whodunit for the police. (There is also a secondary mystery, a true whodunit, involving the confidential police reports taken by the first victim.) Gypsy's POV is told in first person; the others' in third person.

Here are just of few of the reasons I enjoyed reading Gypsy Hunted. I like Gypsy herself, because she is such a strong character, with a very strong willpower. By sheer determination and much practice, she recovers her speech ability and fine motor skills much sooner than the doctors had expected, within days of the accident, instead of it taking weeks as usual. Other favorite characters are Connor, blind date / detective in charge of the case, and Gypsy's niece Renee, a precocious 13-year-old who shares a psychic connection with her aunt. This connection proves to be crucial to the case.

I like how the relationship between Gypsy and her younger sister Leah changes during the novel. In the opening scene, as she is walking to the restaurant to meet her blind date, Gypsy reflects on the irony that one of her most favorite people in the world, her niece Renee, is the daughter of one of her least favorite people, Leah. As young children, the sisters were close - until Gypsy's puberty began. This closeness was torn asunder by Gypsy's hormonal bombardment, parental favoritism, hurt feelings, and misunderstandings by both sisters. An unexpected and quite positive result of Gypsy's accident is their reconciliation, following their first real heart-to-heart talk in many years.

I enjoyed reading Gypsy Hunted by Andrea Drew. I look forward to reading more about Gypsy - and, hopefully, Connor, Leah, and Renee - in Gypsy Cradle and Gypsy Curse.
