This picturebook is the story of a family sleeping through a storm. All the little bears come get in bed with Mama and Papa Bear. As we read, we discover that Papa Bear is the most afraid of the storm, but in the end the scary stuff is coming from Moose, who needs shelter.

I really enjoyed this

story because my 7-year-old has decided she's afraid of the dark. I think she would be tickled by Papa Bear's reaction to the storm.

In the classroom, I would create a chart showing who is afraid of storms and who isn't. We could also create a thunderstorm by snapping, rubbing our hands together, patting our legs, etc.

This picture book is a story about a family sleeping through a storm. All the little bears come get in bed with mama and papa bear. As we read, we discover papa bear is the most afraid of the storm, but in the end the scary things are really from moose, the neighbor, who needs shelter.
This book is

colorful and entertaining. I believe this to be a wonderful book for children who are afraid of storms or the dark.
In the classroom I could create a chart of who is afraid of storms and who is not. I could also create a thunderstorm game by snapping fingers, rubbing our hands together, patting our legs, and so on.

This book is about a family of bears. The children are afraid of the storm and the scary shadows they believe to be a monster so they each go into their parents room and crawl into bed with them. The dad says that they are just "scaredy bears" and that there are no such things as monsters but when
Show More
the rest of the family starts to fall asleep it is the dad who starts to get scared. Finally there is a knock at the door and when the dad answers, it turns out to be moose just looking for shelter from the storm.

This was a cute and humorous story. I could relate to this story when I was little becsause I was terrified of night time and storms especially. This book definately would have made me feel a little better. Young children who are scared of night time and all of the scary shadow and noises will find some comfort in the fact that parents too can get scared but in the end there is really nothing to worry about.

Classroom extension idea #1: Have the children make a thunderstorm by clapping their hands and stomping their feet and making scary noises and movements with their bodies.

Classroom extension idea #2: Make a chart of who in the class is afraid of storms and who is not. Following this, have a class discussion of what each child does when they are afraid of the dark or storms and what their parents do to comfort them.

This book is about a family of bears. The bears are all in the house getting ready to go to bed when a big stroms starts to come. The bears are scared that something is outside because they hear a noise. After Papa Bear goes to check out the noise, everyone sees that it is just moose wanting to

come in and Papa Bear was really the one scared of the dark.

I can relate because I am 25, and I still sleep with the light on. My kids make fun of me all the time. This is a really good book for kids to read to see that everyone even adults are not fearless.

If I used this book with a lesson in class, we could make a chart of everyone that was afraid of the dark or we could create our own thunderstorm by stompping, tapping, and snapping.

This story is about a family of bears, in a forest. Were the little bears are afraid of the storm and they see monsters on the walls, from the storm. Well, the two little bears hop into bed with Mama Bear and PaPa Bear, and the storm just gets worse. As does the monster shapes from the storm. At

the end the PaPa Bear gets so freighted from the monsters shapes, from the storm. However at the end, the monster shapes were the local moose, needing a place to stay. The Papa Bear lets the Moose in for the night.
I believe the story was fun and had a lot of pictures and was very graphic. I enjoyed reading the story and, enjoyed comparing the story to other stories including Papa Bear, Mama Bear, and Little Bears.
I would use the book in my class to over come fears. Maybe include that everyone is scared and everyone can over come fears. I also would create a three bears graph and have all the students write what fears they have recently overcame.

The book is about a bear family who experiences a night of storms. First, all the little bears are fearful and come to crawl into bed with the parent bears. Then, Daddy bear starts to get paranoid and fearful himself after the irony of all his family sleeping soundly beside him!

I think this book is

very cute with wonderful illustrations. I just remember going through this same thing myself and asking to crawl into bed with my parents when the spring and summer storms rolled through! I like the irony of Daddy Bear being scared himself at the end of the night. It just goes to show, we can all be scared sometimes!

In the classroom, we would talk about what makes us scared and draw pictures of it. Then we could discuss how we can feel safe in spite of those fears. OR, we could talk about storms and make our own thunderstorm by first lightly snapping, then clapping, then slapping our legs, then stomping our feet until we all were making a great, loud thunderstorm of our own!

funny, good repetition, maybe a little long for little ones, good read-aloud. Bear is joined by all his little bears because they are scared of monsters-in the end he is scared of the monster.

Personal Reaction:
The book gives great details about the storm outside. The illustrations are bold and detailed and cover the pages.

1. This book could be used for children who might be afraid of the dark or storms.
2. This book could also be used for children who think they have monsters that live under their bed.
