Quite intriguing with twists and turns that keep you going. Penny is a helicopter pilot who flies badly ill people to hospitals for critical care. She's good at her job. In the middle of a particularly dangerous flight, she finds herself put into a different kind of dangerous position and almost
Show More
loses people she is close to along the way to solution.

Good story idea. There are a lot of good books out there about strong women these days. Penny is one of them ( sort of ) and she works with others. So if that is something that speaks to you, give this a try.

As for what I think? Twists and turns are good, but too many of them and momentum suffers.
For me, that was a problem. I was spending so much time rolling my eyes it was distracting.

Penny's relationship with Holt was problematic for me. Someone who flies a medical helicopter with so much skill and survives an attack by someone threatening her life probably doesn't need ...well, lest I be accused of posting a spoiler. I will just say this.

I felt that the story was promising, had some good moments and a few flaws. I gave it three stars, but to be honest, I struggled a bit with that, leaning toward two stars. But it was mostly a decent read and this is an advance copy. Maybe one or two things were straightened out

Title: Life Flight (Extreme Measures #1)
Author: Lynette Eason
Pages: 336
Year: 2022
Publisher: Revell
My rating: 5 out of 5 stars.
Life Flight is the first book in an exciting new series by Lynette Eason, which I am sure many are going to enjoy! The central female character is Penny Carlton whose past
Show More
is slowly revealed throughout the action-packed pages. Penny is a helicopter pilot who flies into areas where a person needs to be evacuated quickly and gotten to a medical facility.
In the beginning, Penny is trying to land her bird in the middle of a storm on the top of a mountain. Then, things start to go from bad to worse. Penny is trying to find help when she learns there is a dangerous man on the loose. Add to the mix that FBI Agent Holt Satterfield is also chasing the wanted man. When he sees Penny, the past comes full circle.
Tension in the novel is always rising, as is the possible romance between Penny and Holt. With a serial killer that needs to be apprehended, it really isn’t a good time for them to explore what the future might hold. When Penny is taken captive, Holt knows he needs to find her before it is too late. They need a miracle and right away!
I have enjoyed many of Lynette Eason’s spell-binding romantic suspense novels and each one just keeps me coming back for more. The characters are well-developed, and the plot has many twists and turns that culminate in a 5-star finish. Be prepared to be up until the end of this book as it has a nail-biting ending! There was no sneak peek into the next installment in the series, but I can’t wait to see what is coming in 2022!

Penny, a helicopter pilot, is sent out to rescue a young girl. Bad weather forces her to make an emergency landing on top of a mountain. Unknown to her, here is also an escaped serial murderer (Rabor) in the area in the area. As FBI agent Holt Satterfield and his team hunt for Rabor, Rabor plans to
Show More
make Penny his next victim. As Holt and Penny work together to save each other lives, they also become acquainted. This is a page-turner with non-stop action and plot twists which make it difficult to put down.

What a beginning to a new series, and it sure didn't disappoint, from crash landing to gun blasts! You will never know what is around the next corner, and it a good thing you don't.

Penny Carlton, EMS Helicopter pilot, is reunited with FBI Special Agent Holt Satterfield, and not in a way girls like
Show More
to meet someone they like.

Evil is lurking, and what a job the author does with this story, surprises abound, most I never saw coming. A read that tugs at your heart, makes you want to hide under the bed, and hold your breath as guns, knives flash, and all the while hoping for survival of those we come to care about.

We also have a side story, and again the author kept me guessing!

Now I have to wait for book two in this page turning series!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Revell, and was not required to give a positive review.

"Life Flight", the first book in author Lynette Eason's "Extreme Measures Series" begins with the nail-biting tension of an emergency crash landing of a medevac chopper in the mountains of North Carolina. Pilot Penny Carlton must find help for the injured transport patient, her colleagues, and
Show More
herself. The severe storm which forced her chopper down is not the only danger--escaped serial killer Darius Rabor is headed for those same mountains. FBI Agent Holt Satterfield, himself a victim of the Rabor's knife-wielding ways, knows all too well how evil the fiend really is. Called in to track the felon, he must also be on the lookout for Penny and her crew. the same team that had saved his own life. He and Penny had spent time getting to know one another, and he had hoped for more than friendship. but their busy schedules kept them apart. Now, the hunt for Rabor took on an even more personal edge. Holt and Penny make it off the mountain, but the threats continue. Is Rabor still playing his evil game? Lynette Eason write top-notch inspirational romantic suspense, and I look forward to upcoming entries in this series.

If you want a real page turner that will keep you up past bedtime..if you want a book that you can't put down once you're read the first chapter...if you want a book that with an ending that will surprise you, pick up this book. This was my first book by this author but it definitely won't be my
Show More
last. The characters were well written and the plot kept me guessing until the end.

Penny is an EMS helicopter pilot. She's brave and willing to take chances if it helps her patients. When she runs into a storm, she has to land the helicopter at the top of a mountain. Of course, there is no cell service so she hikes to the nearest house to call her location in. Plus she finds out that there is a serial killer on the loose in the same area. Both of these things going on at once, test her skills and her nerves to the limit. She faces the serial killer and survives with the help of FBI special agent. When they find out that the person who was shot was not the serial killer that the FBI is looking for, Penny and Holt both become a target for the real killer. On top of all the stress of the ongoing case, someone has let the media know about Penny's bravery and she is being harassed by the media.

As Penny and Holt try to stay one step ahead of the killer, he is watching them and making plans for them. The killer is super creepy and devoid of feelings for anyone. He causes situations that will get Penny out in the open so that he can fulfill his plans for her. Penny is one smart woman and tries not to let her nerves affect her job but it's getting more and more difficult. Can Penny and Holt find the killer before he finds them??

This book is a roller coaster ride with lots of twists and turns. While all of this is going on, Penny and Holt begin to develop feelings for each other which makes them even more anxious to protect each other.
Penny is a strong resilient woman who is both smart and able to fight for her life. This is a book about new love, friendship and family. Parts of it are difficult to read but this is a clean story with no sex or profanity.

This book is listed as the first book of a new series and I can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series.

This books was great. Fast paced, exciting and seemed relatively realistic. I love books with FBI and working within different specialties. Also I have huge respect for and interest in EMS type careers and flying so this book hit all the right notes.

It kept me turning the pages and I read it
Show More
quickly during this busy Nov/Dec holiday season.

I received an ARC and am giving an honest review.

Highly recommend for those who appreciate a book with some rescues, murder, investigations and more. There are characters of faith, who have overcome hardships and a love story as well.

Some days are just cry days…

Perhaps we would all feel that way, if we were wearing the shoes, or flight boots, of Penny Carlton, a helicopter pilot. First you have to make an emergency landing in a raging storm, and that seems to be just the beginning of the non-stop stress she finds herself in.

The author has done a fabulous job of grabbing your attention and keeping it with every breath you take trying to figure out how this can possibly end without more death. The plot or plots just keep getting more twisted as you make an effort to understand what can be believed and what one should turn tail and run from in order to survive. Do not under any circumstances expect to put this book aside until you are finished!

An ARC of this first book in the Extreme Measures series was received through Baker Publishing Group and Revell. These impressions and comments are my own and were in no way solicited.

Life Flight by Lynette Eason is the first book in her Extreme Measures series. Penny Carlton is an Emergency Medical Service helicopter pilot. During a raging storm she is forced to make an emergency landing on a mountain and then go for help. All the while with a serial killer on the loose.
Teaming up with FBI Agent Holt Satterfield may be her only means of survival when she becomes a target. This story was a thrill ride from start to finish; with a wonderful cast of characters. Penny was such a delight to get to know. She was soft and approachable but tough as nails when she had to be. Ms. Eason’s new series is sure to be a nail-biting success!

I have to say that Lynette Eason really knows how to write a romantic suspense novel. From the very first chapter, the action is plunging full speed ahead. In the midst of flying helicopters in the middle of storms and fighting off serial killers, Penny and Holt are exploring the idea of a
Show More
relationship. Just when I thought I knew where the story was going there would be a change. I truly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

Life Flight is the first book in Extreme Measures series by Lynette Eason. This is a fast paced, well written story that is full of action and has wonderful characters. I enjoyed how the author showed the intenseness of the health care team that goes out on flight missions. I especially enjoyed how
Show More
Holt was compelled to do what was need for a prisoner’s peace and eternal salvation despite his previous actions. Crime and medical dramas are my favorite genre to read and this book covered both so good. I look forward to reading the rest in the series.

This is a fantastic start to a new series. I love all the action and the romance. Every time I turned around there was more things happening. This is a book you will not want to put down. Penny and Holt go through a lot before the end of this book. There is action from the start to the end. I

Lynette Eason always writes romantic suspense that keeps you on the edge and this one did not disappoint. Penny is an EMS helicopter pilot. Book literally starts off with a bang trying to save a teen. They are trying to save this teen but their life is in danger also. A serial killer is on the
Show More
loose. Can she survive? Throw in a FBI Special Agent to help her in her situation.

With a jaw dropping beginning, this story takes off for an intense journey. I love reading about jobs that are dangerous. In this book we have a life flight pilot risking her life to make sure her patient arrives safely. The daring landing on a mountain top during a storm is nothing short of a
Show More
miracle. I don’t know how
Penny kept her composure but with her quick decisions, she averts a crash.

With a dangerous criminal lose where Penny has landed, it will take all she has to survive. I like how she was more concerned for her patient and the EMS on board than her own safety. The author delivers a heart pounding story that has intrigue and danger. I like how the author not only gives readers a serial killer to keep up with, but a mystery that involves Holt.

Let me just say Holt has my vote for best protector, fierce investigator and the definition of integrity and grace. The other mystery going on in the story involves something from his past. I couldn’t wait to see how the author would wrap up everything, I wasn’t sure I was happy that the story ended but so excited to know that we have another book in the series coming soon.

I received a copy of this book from The Early Reader Program from Librarything. The review is my own opinion.

line.

A very suspenseful read, look forward to what happens next.

Lynette Eason has been one of my favorite romantic suspense authors for a long time so I was so excited to see she was starting a new series. I was thrilled when I found out this story was taking place in the mountains of western North Carolina as I called that beautiful setting home at one time. I
Show More
was hooked on the story from the beginning as it was full of action and nail-biting suspense. I will say the story definitely kept me guessing until the end as it kept changing directions just when I thought I knew what was going on. Let me just say that I never saw the very end coming!! I feel like I should note that I found the creep factor a little higher in this book than maybe some of her others as she takes readers into the mind of a serial killer. However, it did not bother me because it was all so well done and was never more than I could handle. A cat and mouse hunt for a serial killer through the mountains definitely made for an exciting read. I am looking forward to the rest of the series.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this audiobook. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Life Flight is the first in a new series (Extreme Measures) by Lynette Eason. It is a romantic suspense – heavy on the suspense, light on the romance. I pretty much read the book in one sitting because it really drew me in.
I really like the fact that Eason always has very strong female characters
Show More
– and this book was no exception. Penny Carlton is a flight for life helicopter pilot who finds she is being stalked by a serial killer. This book has lots of suspense and action – and believable characters. I will be reading the rest of the series as they are released!

Life Flight begins with a heart pounding action scene and sustains the magnetism with each subsequent page.

EMS helicopter pilot, Penny Carlton, is in trouble. Her chopper has been compromised by flying debris during a raging storm necessitating an emergency landing on Mount Mitchell in Asheville,
Show More
NC. Even with the nurse practitioner and critical care transport paramedic aboard, Penny needs to find help quickly or her wounded passenger could die from her injuries. It’s up to Penny to get help before it’s too late.

Meanwhile, there’s an escaped serial killer loose on Mount Mitchell who’s desperately trying to take cover from the FBI, namely Special Agent Holt Satterfield, who’s hot on his tail. When Penny and Holt believe they’ve gotten their man, the outcome takes a devastating turn and the pair wind up back at square one.

Life Flight has so many great elements worthy of recommendation. The action, suspense, intensity, twists and turns kept me glued to its pages from beginning to end. Penny’s occupation as a highly skilled EMS helicopter pilot kept me riveted. She excelled at her job and I felt like I was along for the ride as she carried out each perilous rescue. The sweet romantic connection between Penny and Holt was heartwarming. Their relationship developed organically and convincingly—none of that insta-love stuff.

The performances of the secondary characters are not to be minimized. Their varied backgrounds contributed to the success of this story. Some had trauma-filled pasts while others left me with a niggling feeling of doubt regarding their true nature. With my speculations eventually resolved, I was thoroughly entertained and satisfied by the story’s conclusion. The setting was a bonus since I am grossly familiar with neighboring Asheville, NC.

It’s hard to imagine how this book about the hunt for a serial killer could be written so tastefully, without foul language or gore, but it was. I was thoroughly impressed by the well-developed and engrossing plot. A testament to the fact that a talented writer can concoct an amazing story without filling it with expletives, sexually mature themes and excessive violence. Great job!!

Last, but certainly not least, Sara Sheckells was an EXCELLENT audio narrator!! My enjoyment of Life Flight was definitely enhanced by the narration. The voice portrayal of the diabolical serial killer on the loose was perfection. Both male and female voices were artfully done. The characters were brought to life in a way that connected me to them. Perfection.

Life Flight was so good that I visited the author’s website to see if or when book two in the series would be released. I was thrilled to find that book two, Crossfire, is set to be released in August, 2022. Yay!! 😀 Highly recommended.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Wow! I had heard this is an awesome book but I didn't know there was a danger of peeling your toenails off your toes! Author Lynette Eason writes another heart stopping mystery/suspense that will not leave you for a while! Helicopter pilot Penny Cariton's main mission is
Show More
getting her paitent to the hospital as quick as possible, it's a matter of life and death. But the raging storm just gets worse, but finally circumstances forces Penny to land on the Mountain and call for help ASAP. But with a serial killer on the loose, the raging storm may not be their only issue to deal with.

I really did love this book. The characters were spot on and so well developed as the story unfolds. The main characters, Penny and Holt are my favorites, but I enjoyed the Police force, FBI, and other officers doing their job so well. I think Rabor was the worst of the worst bad men I've read in a book. I usually don't care for the bad guy, but Rabor went a step further. And I know I know he had to be in the story to make it a nail biting event! I think Eason weaves the ending together to make it comfortable and enjoyable for everyone. I can't wait for Book Two of the Extreme Measures Series. Life Flight is Five Stars for me!

I enjoyed this book and yet it was difficult for me to read. I enjoyed the writing and the strong characters of Penny (life flight pilot) and Holt (FBI) and their interaction with each other and the roles they played as the story unfolded.

They were dealing with an evil, depraved man who was an
Show More
escaped serial killer. This is the stuff of nightmares and hard to read. True, presented by a Christian author the actual scenes are toned down and don't hit as hard as it would had they been written by a secular, no-holds-barred author. But still, this was an evil person.

The plot was twisted enough to keep this reader on edge and there were subplots threaded throughout.

An exciting conclusion to this story and the book is a great first book in the series "Extreme Measures."

I won a copy from the Early Reviewers program on LibraryThing.com. Opinions are mine, alone and freely given.

There is plenty of romantic tension between EMS helicopter pilot Penny Carlton and FBI Special Agent Holt Satterfield, but it is kept at bay due to greater tension caused by an escaped serial killer with a vendetta for both of them. As usual, Lynette Eason has created a compelling romantic suspense
Show More
story with strong-willed protagonists and antagonists, along with plenty of unexpected turns of events. It was a great read, and am grateful to have been gifted a copy by Eason's writing buddy Cara Putman without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own. Not bad. Pretty good - well-rounded - characters (though there's a lot of secrets scattered around!). The thriller romance is rather formulaic (yes-no-maybe, oh they're in danger/hurt, I love them!). And there's a few noticeable plot holes - they are way too accepting/forgiving of the reporter
Show More
sneaking into their space (how? Did they notify security he's not supposed to be there?), and then he's instrumental in the win - which makes it sound like the author had to make it that way so he'd be around. And...where, exactly, did these seven manly cousins come from (second to last chapter)? Even a mention of having four brothers, earlier, only triggered a wish for her sister in Our Heroine...and then suddenly she has seven cousins. No mention of them, or the concomitant aunts and uncles, in her previous description of her family and childhood. Would have been better if it were something taught in self-defense courses or the like - or if the cousins had been mentioned when she was doing her family rundown. It's not major, but it bothers me - too convenient for the author. The references to God and to prayer are constant, nicely entwined with the story - there's no sudden realizations, the protagonists start out established as believers. They also start out with an established relationship, that gets stronger with this story. They're not starting from scratch - there are a lot of established relationships that affect the course of events. That's nicely handled. Overall, quite readable, and I may go on in the series.

Clean romantic-suspense. This is the first book in the Extreme Measures series by Lynette Eason.

I've read this author previously and usually enjoy her books--though the underlying plot outline does seem to be getting a bit formulaic (in that one of the main characters usually gets captured by the
Show More
bad guy/girl and the other main character has to rescue him/her and only at that point do they decide a long-term romantic relationship is for them.)

This book focuses on Penny Carlton, an EMS helicopter pilot, and Holt Satterfield, an FBI agent after an escaped serial killer (Darius Rabor).

WARNING: SPOILERS MAY FOLLOW. READ ON AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION

*****

At first, you think, wow! that plot ended really quickly--but there's a twist! The hunt continues.

Later, you think the danger is over, and realize that there's still someone else out there. (I realized who it was just prior to Penny interacting with that person.)
