Description

Dinah Taylor has an orderly life that is just how she likes it. A perfectly furnished luxury apartment, a satisfying career as a scientist and CEO of her own company, and an uncomplicated personal life. But all of that changes when she meets seven-year-old Jonah. The boy shows up one day, a scruffy dog by his side, in front of her office building. Dinah knows nothing about kids and even less about animals, but after she buys him breakfast, he shows up the next day...and the next. She tries to learn more about him, to help him, but he's remarkably skilled at evading her questions. And then, late one night, he calls her in a panic-his dog has been badly injured. Dinah rushes them to a local animal clinic, where she meets Garret, a veterinarian with a thriving practice and a passion for drawing. Though Jonah takes to Garret right away, for some reason neither understands, Dinah and Garret just don't mesh. But for Jonah's sake, their lives continue to collide, and slowly the relationship between these three strangers begins to change.… (more)

I loved the beginning of this book. It caught my interest and held it for quite awhile. Then the book seemed to mire down. I lost interest in Dinah's company and Dr. G's drawings. I wish the author had spent more time on Jonah, his mother, and Dinah.

The book starts with Dinah seeing a little boy

and his dog outside Extraburger every day as she goes to work. She worries about him so begins to buy him breakfast. Who is this boy and what is his story? Where are his parents? When Dinah decides to meet him at school and walk him home, she is labeled a possible predictor at the school.

This is the story of a female biochemist/CEO, with an orderly, predictable life, who is forever changed by the appearance of a lonely little boy and his scruffy dog. She buys breakfast for him, and an unlikely friendship begins that has far-reaching effects on both their lives. This is a

heartwarming story about love and loss and how two unlikely people form family, despite challenges.

A very good book for any one looking for a light summer read. Dinah's very organized life becomes upturned when she is suddenly responsible for a small boy and his dog. Romance and work-related challenges also ensue for the protagonist. Perfect for a lazy afternoon.

I loved this story about a woman who listened to her heart. And it fell for a little boy. Interesting take on romance. Not the usual Christian romance. A little boy is orphaned and Dinah is chosen by his mother as his legal guardian. Through unforeseen circumstances, the local vet helps her deal

with the boy's grief.

Heaven Sent Rain was an interesting read. Although, at times I felt like was getting bogged down because of all the details in the story. Each character in this story has a large amount of "baggage" they are carrying around with them. Life has shaped each of these characters. Some have responded

well and others are greatly struggling. I would give this book 3 starts out of 5. Like I said it was an interesting read, but I probably wouldn't pick it up to read again.

Businesswoman Dinah Taylor is a successful CEO with a house full of white furniture, a closet full of stylish suits, and no room in her life for a lonely child and his scruffy dog. But then she meets seven-year-old Jonah, a sad-looking little boy with a dog, sitting in front of her usual breakfast

stop. As Dinah gets to know Jonah and his family circumstances, her heart is softened toward him -- but when she finds him suddenly left in her care, she is at a loss. Having Jonah and his dog in her life also brings her into contact with handsome veterinarian Garrett Miller, and it's a case of strong dislike at first sight for both of them. Garrett and Dinah rub each other the wrong way from the start, but as they are drawn together again and again over the following weeks, they start to understand each other better. After all, they both care a great deal for Jonah.

There's something odd about the writing style of this book. I wouldn't say that it's badly written, but something about the way this author puts words together knocks me right out of the story time and time again. I also found the ending of this book rushed and abrupt, and a few loose ends were left dangling -- and not in a good, there-will-be-a-sequel kind of way. Plus, I didn't believe in Jonah at all. He's basically the kid from the Christmas Shoes song, and I hate that song. (He's not literally that kid, but you know what I mean: more of a device to tug at the heartstrings than an actual kid.) I do think some readers, particularly fans of this genre who do not share my quirks in regards to the writing style, will enjoy this book. It just wasn't my cup of tea.

I love Lauraine Snelling's Red River series of books. She is a very talented writer. So I was excited to read this new novel from her. But I was disappointed. I didn't like this book very much. I had a hard time liking the characters and feeling with them. I think Lauraine Snelling should stick to

historical fiction.

This is such a sweet story I hated to see it end, however, I did like the ending! Lauraine didn't disappoint with this one, she gave us the perfect example of how God puts people in together. My heart hurt for Jonah and what he was going through. I was glad Dinah made the decision that she did and

that she also let someone else in her life. Things do work out for the best when we follow His direction.

Snelling is a good storyteller, her characters are good people that react to life's situations the same way we all do. Totally loved this book.

I received a copy of this book free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
