The truce between dragons and the Fae, mediated by the Library, has been signed, and Irene and Kai, in their roles as emissaries, are cautiously optimistic. When Irene has to run an urgent errand to retrieve a book to stabilise a world she cares about before it irretrievably falls into chaos, she
Show More
didn't count on being involved in a heist as part of the deal. Will she be able to stay true to her principles and save the alternate?

The sixth volume in the Invisible Library series is a very successful meshing of heist movie and James Bond pastiche, with breathtaking action and an explosive twist to match. I loved every minute of it!

More, please!

This series never disappoints. Now in its sixth volume, the characters remain consistent, and the world Cogman builds just gets more complex and interesting. The plots are never entirely predictable, nor the outcomes obvious. A great ride.

The only negative comment I can make is that she appears to
Show More
have changed publishers. The new volume doesn't quite fit with the previous five, and the quality of the cover printing is inferior (the black easily scratches off). I hope she got a better chunk of money by making the switch, at least. She deserves it.

Irene and Kai agree to steal a rather large painting as a way of getting a book that will stabilize the world she went to school on. As a caper story it's mostly routine and dull, though watching what Irene does with The Language is amusing and the different abilities of members of the team is of
Show More
some interest. It moves quickly and is a pretty painless read, with all the really "interesting" bits stuffed in the toe.

This book was fantastic! I remember reading the first book in this series, The Invisible Library, right around its publication date and knew that this was going to be a very special series. I have looked forward to each installment and have yet to be disappointed. One of the things that I love
Show More
about the series is that the possibilities are endless. This book was my favorite in the series to date.

You would think that Irene and Kai would get a bit of a break after all of their work to secure a very important treaty but the fun never seems to stop for this pair. After a quick assassination attempt, they must face Irene's parents which proved to be an eye-opening situation. Before long, Irene is summoned to the Library and given the task to secure a very special book. Irene and Kai dealings with Mr. Nemo prove to be more difficult than expected and they find themselves being put on a team to pull off a very big heist.

This was a very exciting book. The action started in the few pages and really never let up. Just getting to Mr. Nemo was an adventure but the fun really got started once they made it to his island. It was really interesting to see Irene and Kai work within a group. Irene has a take-charge attitude which doesn't always work with the group. The task that they have seems almost impossible and they have to do it with a group that they don't completely trust. I had no idea how they were going to make it work and I love that the story kept me guessing.

The characters in this book were very well done. I have grown to love Irene and Kai over the course of this series and I liked them even a little more by the end of this book. I was a little sad that Detective Vale only made a quick appearance but there were so many new and interesting characters introduced in this book that I didn't miss him as much as I would have thought. The crew that Irene and Kai must work with were all really unique individuals. I wasn't sure who could really be trusted but there were a couple of individuals that really proved themselves in the end.

I would highly recommend this book to others. This is the sixth book in The Invisible Library series which is a series that really should be read in order. I loved the excitement of this story and thought that the task was incredibly unique. Once I started reading this book I did not want to put it down. I cannot wait to read more of this wonderful series!

I received a review copy of this book from Berkley Publishing Group.

Our heroine has to go to a moderately high-Chaos world to help a dangerous fae with a dangerous heist in order to save a world that means a lot to her. Many shenanigans follow, including insights into the secrets of the dragons. Tootling along fine!

A great installment in the series. Cogman continues to write lovely, convoluted plots with interesting arcs for Irene, the main protagonist.

I am HIGHLY INTERESTED to see where this story goes next.

Stepping back into the world of Irene Winters in The Secret Chapter by Genevieve Cogman is like sipping your favorite beverage at the end of a long day – relaxing and comforting. Irene is just so familiar with her love of reading and The Library, her desire to spend cozy nights with her loved
Show More
ones, and her determination to do her job to the best of her ability. It is a bit like reading about yourself if you happened to live in a world where Fae and Dragons coexisted, and a magical, mystical Library kept the two from gaining too much power.

The best part about The Secret Chapter, and the entire series, is the fact that Kai’s and Irene’s adventures never become old or predictable. Each story sheds just a little more light on the big picture. This time around, we learn something rather unexpected about the origins of dragons. We also see more dragon interactions as well as Kai’s relations. Plus, we get to see Irene’s parents as she confronts them about the origins of her birth. There is no doubt all of this is going to come back to haunt Irene and Kai in future stories.

In The Secret Chapter, Irene learns some things about herself which highlight those changes, even as she recognizes that some of those changes might not be the most positive. Ms. Cogman is not afraid to put her characters through dark times, and more importantly, she is not afraid to show the negative impact such dark times can have on her characters’ personalities.

The Invisible Library series remains entertaining and creative. Each story stands on its own while also moving forward the overarching story. The characters never remain stagnant but always growing and learning from previous experiences. It remains a favorite series, especially as I never know what to expect from one book to the next other than the fact that nothing will ever go to plan, which makes up half the fun.

At a certain point in time, all continuing series seem to reach a culminating point where diminishing returns set in, and when I understood that this book was going to be a caper novel, with the caper being instigated by a Fae crime lord, I figured that this was where the wheels were going to start
Show More
falling off. That suspicion turned out to be quite inaccurate and I continue to have fun with these books, and Cogman keeps finding ways to elevate the stakes involved in her epic of Humans, Fae and Dragons fighting to control the nature of reality. This is while Irene Winters, the protagonist of these stories, watches in horror as her responsibilities keep increasing.

Another fun romp in chaos! There's such cleverness in Cogman's plotting; deal-making and high-stakes ops in The Secret Chapter made me think of Monty Python and Monte Hall helping 007 save the galaxy. I wish Kai and Irene had more of a romantic respite to wrap this adventure, however.

Irene and Kai, while on a quest to recover a book that will help stabilize the world where Irene attended boarding school, are roped into being members of a group who are executing a heist for a fairy who is straight out of a Bond film. However, the item being stolen reveals new information about
Show More
dragons that threatens to shatter the fragile peace treaty that Irene and Kai are working so hard to preserve.

Another solid entry in the Invisible Library series that kept me highly entertained throughout.

Another lovely installment of The Invisible Library series. This one involves heists, art history, James Bond parodies, and Irene being awesome. Oh, and we finally get to meet her parents.

I was hoping for things to develop with Kai and her - but alas I was wrong and felt the story was a little dull.

Really love this series.

Irene and Kai become part of a Great heist crew which then morphs into a James Bond parody with Fae and Dragons. Their target is a painting which casts light on the past of the Dragon Monarchs.

Fresh from signing a peace treaty, Irene and Kai quickly find themselves entangled in more high stakes politics - all in the name of obtaining a rare book for the Library. Overall, a fun and engaging read with a quick pace. I enjoyed seeing Irene's parents for the first time and learning some

intriguing information about dragon history, which will likely make me pick up the next book fairly soon.
