An excellent book. Stephen Bull covers a very wide variety of subjects and time periods most inerestingly. This is one of the rare books that can stray from the reader's favorite subject matter but keep him engaged and curious.

This book is one of the first I have seen to include "sporting" arms and armour. I found myself enjoying this section more than I thought I would.
The only thing keeping a 5 star rating at bay is, once again, that 80% of the subject matter covers a later time period than I am geniunely interested in. This is a very good book though and I recommend it.

detailed and nicely presented look at nearly everything written about within. I have seen different photographs of many of the pieces in the book but not nearly as well captioned. This book is one of the first I have seen to include "sporting" arms and armour. I found myself enjoying this section more than I thought I would.
