Description

Kai and Varian spent forty years in coldsleep, hiding from the mutineers who had taken over the planet Ireta. But when they woke, the mutineers were still aroundand had sired two generations of ornery descendants! Worse yet, space pirates were on their way to join the illegal colony. Then a huge group of alien Theks, intent on some cryptic purpose of their own, appeared unexpectedly. Kai and Varian were determined to save the planet and its unusual dinosaurs. All they had to do was solve the myriad mysteries of Ireta and gain the trust of teh most dangerous beings in their Universe. Not an easy task, at best!.

Much more satisfying than the first in the series, this novel sets up the even better Sassinak and The Planet Pirates duo. Enjoyable.

In the sequel to Dinosaur Planet, Varian and Kai and the surviving members of their team awake to discover they've been in cold sleep for 43 years and the mutineers that stranded them have since produced 2 new generations. Initially I enjoyed Survivors better than the first book but at times this

When Dinosaur Planet came out, I never really expected a sequel, though the plot was left open for it. I enjoyed this one just as much. Don't expect anything complicated, epic or very scientific, this is typical McCaffrey 'light' scifi, but still a good read. Science fiction doesn't have to be

Another one from my childhood stash, the second in the Dinosaur Planet duology but it stood alone story wise. It's an early book by McCaffrey and it's unfortunately clunky. The heavyworlders had mutinied and the "normal" humans who survived went into cold sleep to survive. 43 years have passed, no

sign of the space ship that brought them there, but the Thek and the avian species that colonised another world in this solar system finally checked in on them. The male expedition leader gets all paranoid and revenge focussed, while the female one starts to develop some empathy for the heavyworlder descendents (seeminly mostly because one is hot). *sigh* They finally got to the revelation of how dinosaurs from the Earth's Mesozoic ended up on this planet and it's just kind of meh. The novel advances the larger Planet Pirates series a bit though.
