Not one of her best but not a bad pair of stories. These two are set in a post-apocalyptic earth, where humanity has regressed to an earlier existence and shares the world with other humanoid creatures. These are two quest stories and quite typical of Andre Norton.
The first story is that of Fors
In the second story Sander searches for the Before People who are supposed to have survived the great devastation. He encounters Fanyl who is also on a quest for the same people, with different motives. They fight a very strong evil together.
It's pretty standard stuff for Andre Norton.

A reprint which brings together two of Norton's classic stories, this was a great idea by publishers. While neither story is Norton's best work, together they read more coherently, and it's always a trip to attempt to decipher which city's ruins the explorers are poking through. Plus, who can
