A large portion of this book is extensive descriptions of battles. However, Dan Abnett is highly skilled in creating interesting, human, characters and utilizing their quirks and traits in interesting ways. Was a very fun read.

The bleak gothic setting of Warhammer 40k is very appealing to me right now. Enjoyed this introduction to Commissar Gaunt.
