I loved the first three books in this series. They were fun, clever, and well written. The fourth book is something else entirely. Something far better.

It's as though Mull went from being a very talented storyteller to being a novelist in the time between Shadow Plague and Dragon Sanctuary. His
Show More
prose is more mature, his characters more complete, his story lines deeper, than in the previous books. What makes this a true success is that those things were never lacking in the first place; he simply improved upon great traits and made them exceptional.

Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary is the fourth book in the Fablehaven series. Kendra and Seth continue to find trouble. They are trying to find artifacts in Wyrmroost which is a dragon sanctuary. They need the artifacts so that they can keep the demon prison Zzyxx closed.

This is the book where Seth
Show More
figures out powers he was given when he pulled the nail from a revenant. He becomes a shadow charmer because he was in contact with the nail which kept the revenant alive feeding it dark energy.

This is another suspensful fantasy novel written by Brandon Mull.

This has to be the best book yet in the series. It is full of twists and turns! You can't tell who to trust and who is trustworthy. This book also introduces many new and interesting characters. Seth and Kendra are developing into quite the adventurers as they grow up. Almost all of the artifacts
Show More
have been located and the Spinx is behind it all. Both Seth and Kendra's powers are really starting to become more than even they imagined. Both have become important and powerful to the Kinghts of the Dawn, each lending their own unique abilities of Light and Dark. Can't wait for book 5 to arrive!

As other reviewers have said before me, this is the best in the series yet. More thrilling, more shocking and more intriguing. Seth's powers come into their own and Kendra makes new allies. Once agin, friends become traitors-you will be surprised as to who it is. An amazing book that I'd recommend.

This is the fourth book in the Fablehaven series by Brandon Mull. This book was absolutely wonderful. Mull does it again, delivering a complex and dangerous plot, with humor, and non-stop action.

Kendra and Seth are back at school. Kendra has been trying to read the secret journal that she was given
Show More
to figure out where the rest of the artifacts are hidden. Unfortunately she ends up getting kidnapped by the Society of the Evening Star. The rest of the family thinks she is dead. So Seth is sent to Fablehaven for his protection. The group at Fablehaven has to do what they can to recover the remaining hidden artifacts; first they must go to the Dragon Sanctuary and hope to live long enough to get the key to the next artifact.

This was a wonderful book. All of the characters are just fabulous. In addition to all of our favorites from the last book, some new and very interesting characters are added. Mull is so creative with his writing, I am never able to guess what will happen next. The plot pulls you right through the book, the action scenes are wonderful. It was awesome to learn about Seth having his own special set of powers; I liked how they compliment Kendra's in a way. It is a rare book that can keep some many creative things coming at you and such a wonderful plot going that you can never guess what will be next.

This is also a very emotion evoking book. There is humor, at times I was cheering for the characters, at times I was almost in tears at some of the horrible betrayals that happened in this book. It was just riveting.

Needless to say I am absolutely dying to read the next book. This is definitely a keeper series. I think if you enjoyed Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Book 1) or The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 1); you will really enjoy this series. I actually think everyone should read this series, it just keeps getting better and better!

Loved the dragon sanctuary. Good twist in the story. Only issue I had was the end was a little rushed. Can't wait for the next one.

Each book in this series impresses me more than the last. This one (the fourth in the series) continues the adventures of Seth and Kendra as they try to stop an evil cult from collecting all of the keys to the demon prison.

The excitement was palpable, and I couldn't wait to read the final book.

In the four book of fablehaven the bad guys are trying to get the third artifact. Kendra, sixteen year old girl, and other expolers are trying to recover the other artifacts so that the bad guys will not get it. That is a little difficult because the bad guys have one artifact that allows them to
Show More
see everywhere. The book goes on with them getting to a preserve, where the artifact is held, with dangerous dragons. In order for them to get the artifact, they most go in a cave that forbiddens anyone from getting in. This is a very challenging task, but it must be done. There group of 7 went in a found dangerous where it was too close. once they were ahold of this artifact, they went out. Once they are out one of the person in the group was on the bad guys side. He was a demon and a spy.

Secrets of the dragon sanctuary in the fourth book in the Fablehaven series. It is written by Brandon Mull. The main characters in this book are Kendra and Seth. They travel to Wyrmwroost , a dragon sanctuary, to find one of the five keys to the demon prison. They race against the Society of the
Show More
Evening Star to recover all of the keys first so that the Society can’t open the prison and free the demons. Kendra, Seth and their companions must face giants, flying deer, and mighty dragons that would like to make a meal of them. They are able to retrieve the artifact only to be betrayed by some one they thought was a friend , Gavin, who is really the demon prince , an evil dragon, tries to kill Kendra and traps Warren in a magical storage space by burning the sack that it could be accessed through. They must now continue they search for the rest of the artifacts and a way to free Warren in their next book Keys to the demon prison.
This book is my favorite in the fablehaven series.Brandon Mull is also one of my favorite authors. Probably because I love dragons. Which is something this book has alot of. One of my favorite things is the twist whith Gavin. You don't even see it coming and deffenitly don't expect Raxtus to eat him. This book would also make a great movie, to bad that wouln't happen. Although it would probably be better for teens not adults.

Things are getting more serious - Kendra is kidnapped and her family thinks she is dead. Eventually she is reunited with her grandparents, but this book deals with betrayals and Kendra wonders how she can ever trust anyone. There are some great adventures at Wrymroost with dragons and other scary

creatures and I love the introduction of Raxtus. He is great!

This is the 4th in the Fablehaven series and continues with the battle between the Knights of the Dawn (aka good guys) and the Society of the Evening Star (bad guys). This series is perfect for the middle grade crowd - lots of action and adventure and each book always has some plot twist that takes
Show More
me completely by surprise. The audio narration is really exceptional. Although the voices used for the human characters are good, narrator E.B. Stevens does a fantastic job with his voices for magical creatures. His troll demon has a resonant boom that makes me wonder if is electronically enhanced. I love all the new magical creatures. Mull goes beyond the usual trolls, dwarves, fairies, etc. and creates some unusual creatures, each with its own special power. Very fun series - highly recommended.

This was my favorite of the fablehaven books so far. The characters are older and I think that helps with the issues I had with the first book being a little immature (but hey, I am 25, lol). There were surprising little twists in this book and it made it all the more interesting.

What can I say?I already said that the previous one was amazing. For this one I could only say beyond amazing.I started the series for casual reading.Never did I think it would be this good. But the series is becoming better with every book.

The plot of the story was excellent. We saw so many different
Show More
kind of magical creatures in these books but the dragons were the scarce of them all.Well have no fear because the dragons are here!A whole preserve full of dragons. They are deadly, they are cunning, they are mighty predators and our heroes have to overcome them to retrieve a hidden key.So we are in for a wild ride in the dragon sanctuary. But wait only dragons! How can that be possible? It is magical preserve after all.So add a sky giant to the ingredients to make the stew more tasty and make matters more difficult.
But they succeeded to overcome all the obstacles on their way to only be betrayed by one of their own at the end. That part of the surprise was so shocking that I couldn't believe it along with Kendra. So are the surprises over? No,the traitor got eaten by a dragon(That part was real funny) and after returning to Fablehaven Seth and Kendra were informed about some other ominous news.

I won't disclose anymore details.I have tried to leave it spoiler free as much as possible.Brandon Mull had nailed it and I am really eager to see what more brilliance he will have to offer in the next book.

Fantastic! The series just gets better with each book. The ending is shocking, but I always found that character a little creepy and odd anyway, so it was shocking in a good way for me.

Kendra Sorenson, her brother Seth, her grandparents, three trusted allies, Tanu Warren and Coulter, as well as many other members of the Knights of the Dawn race against the evil Society of the Evening Star led by the Sphinx. They race to gain all of the five artifacts so that the Society cannot
Show More
gain all the artifacts to which would open the demon prison Zzynx resulting in the end of the world. One of the artifacts is located at a dragon sanctuary called Wyrmoost. Kendra and a team of elite members from the Knights were among those to endure the journey. The team included herself, Gavin, an infamous drag tamer, Trask, a seasoned adventurer, and a few others. They had received word that Naravog the demon prince and deadly dragon that could take the shape of a man, was going to Wyrmoost as well. But to open the gate they must have the key to which is the first horn of a unicorn that a young unicorn sheds. This is extremely rare but the centaurs in Fablehaven bare one that purifies anything. They plea to the centaurs for the horn to borrow but it is their most prized possession and they would not give it up. Later that day Seth heard countless whispers coming from the dark woods that surrounded the main house on the magical preserve known as Fablehaven. Curious he is attracted to the sounds and goes to investigate the whispers. They led him to an old demon legend’s lair. Instead of killing Seth the demon gives him a special gift. He transforms him into a shadow charmer. He physically remains the same but he now speaks the language of the dark and if he remains in the shadows, he is nearly invisible to even the sharpest eyes. Without permission he sneaks into the centaur’s domain and steals the horn. A few days after the team gets onto a plane and instead of carrying supplies they store them in a regular looking knapsack. But it is secretly magical and contains a spacious room to where they can all fit with plenty of space. When they arrive they make their way through the snowy mountains of Wyrmoost they evade many dangerous creatures such as dragons and other devious creatures. When they arrive at the dragon temple they must defeat 3 grad guardians. The first one was a hydra to which they could deceive until it weakened and then killed it. The second was a dragon with breath to make anyone in the vicinity fall asleep. Gavin used a potion to remain awake and was able to slay the dragon by surprise. When they reach the third it was a dragon with ten legs that was poison to the core and Kendra and Seth stabbed the unicorn horn into the dragon to which led to the dragons demise they were then able to retrieve the artifact and exit the dragon temple. When they exited they were ambushed by two powerful dragons. Gavin threw aside his weapons and transformed into a massive black dragon. As he fought off the other dragons he ate one of her friends Dougan and tried to kill another named Mara. Though he had less control over his state as a dragon she still ran away from the area for safety. As she was in the sidestep cleft which was very narrow Gavin approached with a limp in his human form. She discovered that he was Gavin no matter that she trusted him was Naravog and a traitor. As they talked she felt horror creeping up in her. Then behind Gavin she saw her old friend Raxtus. Raxtus was a very small dragon and one of his abilities was to turn invisible. When Gavin noticed her looking over his shoulder he saw nothing and then Raxtus ate Gavin in one bite. As the others regrouped they discovered Mara with a few broken ribs. Other than that the entire team seemed intact. Later they arrived back to their grandparents home at Fablehaven and their grandfather brought them into his office he then said,” The society have abducted your parents.
I enjoyed this book for many reasons. For example the deep vivid imagery made me feel as if it could be a picture book. As well as the icy cold betrayals. I love how Seth has obtained new magical abilities. The description of the dragons almost makes me shiver. In addition to the other fearsome creatures at Wyrmoost. I think the end of this book has definitely set the tone for the next and I believe Seth and Kendra will be a worthy threat to the Society in the future.

I am continually impressed with this middle grade series. I have to think it was outlined well in advance, as details from past books come into play int his one. I can also see why my son likes these books so much, even though he is getting old for them (13). His reading skills and speed have
Show More
improved as we has worked his way through this series over the last couple of years (yes, he reads other things too--for school and for pleasure).

This time, the Knights must travel to a dragon sanctuary where humans have no guarantee of safety. They must collect a key from the dragon temple, off limits to all. Who will make the trip? Who will survive? How might they succeed in this quest?

BOTTOM-LINE:
Great dragons, bad story
.
PLOT OR PREMISE:
Two stories converge, one of faux Kendra and one of a Dragon sanctuary
.
WHAT I LIKED:
The story of Kendra and a duplicate is interesting, but a bit slow for most of it. But once the Dragon sanctuary is involved, it takes off again.
.
WHAT I DIDN'T
Show More
LIKE:
Seth is being stupid again and it is really starting to take away from the story. If it was just him in the story, I would have stopped reading long ago. Plus the faux Kendra story is pretty one-sided for most of it. Finally, the teams are separated in the sanctuary, and everyone relativley carries on as if it is "business as usual", despite thinking the others have died. Really?
