I love Rick Cook's "Wiz Biz" series, and this fifth and final book is no exception. It was a little bit weaker than the rest, but there were still many parts that had me laughing out loud. The weakness mostly comes from fudging of how genetic algorithms / auto-modifying code works, and also forcing

a wizard, a dragon, and a programmer to wander through Comdex in Las Vegas (humorous, but didn't really add anything to the story). My personal rating for it would be an A-

As Wiz and Moira prepare for the Winter Festival, a strange carnival magician casts some spells that end up knocking Jerry unconscious and end up planting Miora's mind in Fluffy's body. Wiz goes in search of Moira while Jerry and another crew try to figure out the new kind of magic they're up

against. Of course, they can't figure it out by themselves, so Jerry, Bal-Simba and Moira (in dragon form) head to Las Vegas and Comdex to find a programmer named the Tajmanian Devil. It's never as simple as all that, though, and they end up bringing back not only Taj, but also a fighter pilot who had previously ventured into the realm of magic, two Russians and an old crop-duster pilot. Any fewer and it wouldn't be a party.

I think the novelty is wearing off a little bit, and if the series goes on much longer, Cook will have to bring over the entire staff of IBM. The fish-out-of-water storyline kinda fades after the fish establishes himself out of water...

Not as good as the first book in the series, but just as fun to read!
