Life sucks when your friends are pissed at you. Just ask Zoey Redbird - she's become an expert on suckiness. In one week she has gone from having three boyfriends to having none, and from having a close group of friends who trusted and supported her, to being an outcast. Speaking of friends, the only two Zoey has left are undead and unMarked. And Neferet has declared war on humans, which Zoey knows in her heart is wrong. But will anyone listen to her? Zoey's adventures at vampyre finishing school take a wild and dangerous turn as loyalties are tested, shocking true intentions come to light, and an ancient evil is awakened in PC and Kristin Cast's spellbinding fourth House of Night novel.

This book is so lame. Zoey is ssoooo annoying (and a skank). I want to strangle her! All the characters are utterly obnoxious, including the dog. The dialouge is overly repitive "oh, woe is me, I used to have three boyfriends, but they found out what a skank I am. I'm so special because I have
Show More
fancy tatoos, but I pretend to be humble about it. I want brown pop." I'm only reading this series, for however much I despise the characters and diologue, the plot is pretty good and I want to find out what happens.

The last book Untamed finds Zoey and her friends trying to save the school from the dark one rising. Aphrodite conitinues to have her visions and shares them with Zoey. Zoey calls her grandmother in for help but tragedy strikes and her grandmother ends up in the hospital unable to help her. Zoey
Show More
must take this battle on with just her friends. In Untamed Zoey finds out that the person she is supposed to trust at the school is behind all the bad things happening.

The question now is can Zoey and her friends save the school and stop the evil forces from rising?
I look forward to book five to see what happens next.

I'm still enjoying this series, though still wish the authors had a better editor behind them - the little continuity errors and mistakes are still annoying me. I'm also glad that Zoey finally found some Christians that were not hateful. I like the banter among the characters and the mixture of
Show More
humor with tension.

They're getting better and better and I'm really anxious for the 5th book now. I just keep wishing this story had been written by someone else. Someone who understand that they don't need to have Zoey fall in love with every guy she meets. Someone who wouldn't try so hard to show that they're up on
Show More
their pop culture that the books read like sponsorship ads.But the writing is getting better as is the blatant sexist language and the pop culture references.

Zoey had been marked and had to move to the house of night. She then begins the process of becoming a Vampire. Zoey had a lot to learn but she has the help of Nyx and her friends to get though it. Zoey also had a lot of boy trouble.

Although written for a teenage reading level (despite some content that would have been considered adult a decade ago); this book has an entertaining storyline. The preceding books in the series must be read before this one in order to understand it, particularly Betrayed. Zoey is still only a few
Show More
months into living in the House of Night and her best friend has become a new kind of vampire, her friends have become her enemies, and her enemy from the first book has become her friend. The upside? Her best friend is back from the dead to help out and Aphrodite is actually acting a little human...maybe because she sorta is.

Another fun, fast paced story about Zoey Redbird and her fledgling vampire friends at the House of Night. This book takes place just a few days after the end of Chosen, and this book covers only 2-3 days. What a great way to make this series go on and on. It definitely ended with a bit of a
Show More
cliffhanger.

When does the next one come out?

Overall, a very enjoyable, hard to put down read. There were just a few things that bugged me...the characters kept saying "ugh". "Ugh" this, "ugh" that. Ugh. It got a bit annoying after awhile. Also, I still can't get used to "brown pop". Is this a regional thing? Why not soda or cola? Anyway, that's it. I am ready for the next book.

For those of you who are already fans of the series, I guess this book is like the rest. Not much happens till the end. But this time, I'm more happy with it because it seems like there's finally going to be more action. The only things I really want to remark on are....
-> Zoey seems to always have
Show More
to get involved with the hottest guys on campus. And though she might sound skanky, she's just being "honest". Because obviously it's normal to have a total of four guys to get involved with. That's all within 4 months of entering a new school. There's Heath, her human boyfriend/childhood sweetheart/Imprinted human but torn. Then Erik (whose my favourite) her now-full-fledged Vampyre whose the hottest guy in school (student now teacher). Professor Loren... uhm... scandalous teacher-student affair who she loses her virginity to (cant say that it gives much of a moral message besides that getting involved with a teacher may result in his death and your betrayal of everyone you care about). Now there's Stark who she claims is her soulmate after conversing for five minutes about his tragic past.
As much as I love Zoey's bravery and all her elements... her relationships with the boys are a little too overdone. The only ones she manages to really become friends with are Damien and Jack, two gay guys.
-> "Bullpoopy"?! Really? I know people who don't like to swear... but like Aphrodite said.. that is just totally lame and pathetic.
For those who haven't started this series... well, really consider it before you do. There's a lot of rave reviews for the series... and I, myself, can't seem to stop reading it despite my protests... cause you get hooked on. As for whether it's really that great... well... let's just say.. for sure I'm getting Hunted when it comes out, but it's no Harry Potter or even Twilight.

Mostly enjoyable, but I do wish the series would move along a bit faster. This book seemed like an interim book until we get to the next one.

I haven't even read the whole book yet and... It's just so good... All I can say is that it keeps you asking for more!

Thank goodness this book was better than book 2, Chosen! It still was not one of my favorites and I still wanted to stop at the beginning and rant at Zoey for being so fickle when she starts to develop an interest in the new student, Stark. At the end of Chosen it seems like the action is finally
Show More
going to start but Cast seems to be dragging the story out. I loved that we continue to see Aphrodite’s character grow and evolve as she tries to make up to Nyx, all the wrong she has done. I actually feel that while Aphrodite is maturing, Zoey continues to make the same mistakes over and over. I do feel bad for Zoey over the treatment she receives from her friends and especially Erik. She did behave totally skanky but now as her teacher, Erik had no right to take his anger out on her in the classroom. Yet again, the action starts to ramp up at the end of the book and will leave you hanging. I will give Cast that, they sure know how to hook you into the next book.

Zoey Redbird's life is sooooo full of drama right now. All of her friends think they can't trust her but soon they learn as to why. She has no boyfriend, which is kind of a relief right now. Neferet, the high priestess of this House of Night seems to be up to something that is terribly wrong and
Show More
dark. Zoey knows this and when there is a surprise visit from the High Priestess of all vampyres - then she knows something is really up. Once she gets through to her friends as to why she can't tell them everything - Erik, her ex, comes back into her life as he has already gone through the full Change. But he's as cold as ice towards her, until she finally gets in his face. Aprhodite, who saved Stevie Rae, but has become a different kind of human and that changed what Stevie Rae was. Aprhodite had a terrible vision that consisted of Zoey's grandmother and a poem, but when they realized what it meant that evil was coming to Earth, they decided that as a group they could expose the monsters Neferet had been making and then the action begins! Quite the surprsie at the end and I'm dying to read Hunted to find out what's going to happen to the group!

P.C. Cast and her daughter have created a wonderful world with this series of books. All of the characters have evolved so much since the first book. So if you're looking for a cool vampire series to read (and you don't mind reading YA novels) then I would suggest this series for you!

Much like Order of the Phoenix was for Harry Potter, this entry in the House of Night serves mostly as transition from Zoey discovering her power to actually having to use it against real evil. Roughly the same quality as the other books in the series but contains a lot of exposition as the authors
Show More
try to connect the vampire world with Native American and Christian folklore and beliefs. The intersection of belief systems has always been a bit clunky in this series and remains so. Also, the Casts are not as skilled as J.K. Rowling at inserting appropriate humor into deathly situations and they still feel the need to repeat much of what happened in the previous novels. They do manage to create some interesting scenes and new characters that are sure to play larger roles in the next book.

This is the fourth book in the House of Night series and I loved it as much as I loved the other three. It was really way more fun than I expected and yet again, the Casts did a fantastic job with their plot and the cliff hanger-type thing at the end. I am excited about this series, it's really
Show More
fun, well written and interesting. I enjoy the conflict within Zoey, she might have Mary-Sue tendencies, but things do go wrong and she can't always prevent and/or fix everything. It's refreshing, as is the face that she's not helpless and her friends are her friends. What she does has consequences, unlike some YA sf/f books.I cannot wait for the rest of the series!

Wow, quite a book! There were some surprises and some new characters here, as well as a HUGE problem in the last few pages. Needless to say I'm about to pick up the next book as soon as I'm done writing this. Overall I really like this series, even though there are definitely a few annoying aspects
Show More
(such as repetitiveness and the authors REALLY making sure you know how they feel about certain things like drinking, etc.). I'm also impressed that the overarching story line seems to be very well thought out which can be a difficult feat over so many books. I'm a fan!

This is the first of the "new" vampire books that I've really enjoyed. The characters have unique quirks that make them intriguing, the plot is varied and well-paced. I'd say if anyone else had trouble getting through Vampire Academy like I did, but still wants to read contemporary vampire stories,
Show More
this series is the one to try next.

So as i said before this is my favorite one out of the House of Night series, though it could change later as the series continues. So Untamed picks up after Chosen, of course. Zoey finds herself kind of like out of a pile of ashes. Everything in her life has just been burned to the ground. She doesn't have ANY boyfriends and is abandoned by friends. Everything is basically going to a pile of crap.So the book really doesn't start off well for Zoey.

So if i could put together all the books Untamed would definitely be the climax . Hunted is the Next book which I'm really excited about.Anyways, Life for Zoey is still complicating, she has to like solved a "mystery" in this book. And for once Zoey isn't so annoying in this book.Surprise!!Maybe I'm just getting use to her or she's just...not...that annoy?IDK. This one was probably the most well written of the 3 of them.Everything was paced really well. In the other books i felt the storyline was kind of um...crowded. The flow of the book was good.

I am much happier with this series now. I still have to completely agree with glade1 (see review below) “I…still wish the authors had a better editor behind them - the little continuity errors and mistakes are still annoying me. I'm also glad that Zoey finally found some Christians that were

not hateful. I like the banter among the characters and the mixture of humor with tension.” I am ready for the next installment in this series, and I cannot wait for the new release on the 27th.

This is the fourth book in the House of Night series and was by far the best book of the series. It is the only book in the series so far that I have felt comfortable saying I really liked it and enjoyed the story.

With the murders of the teachers in the third book things are beginning to come to a
Show More
head in this book. Zoey is out of boyfriends, so to speak, so of course she is absolutely enchanted by the new kid in school, Stark. With Stevie Rae somewhat her normal self, she takes a back seat in this story but still plays a few big parts as a new type of vampire. The mythos developed in this story around the evil Neferet was engaging and very interesting. Neferet is here in all her evil glory; and man is she evil.

Zoey without boyfriends is awesome because Zoey is actually focused on the actual plot and this makes for a way more interesting book than the last one was. So, for everyone who hung on with the series despite the barely okay third book, you are rewarded in this book. Things really come to a climax in this book; it makes me extremely grateful that I have book 5 on hand. Things pretty much end in the middle of everything and if you had to wait for the 5th book to come out you would be pulling your hair out.

So, all in all, this was a great book. I hope that things continue to be as good in the fifth book. I love the characters; the writing quality is still mediocre at best, but it is a fun and quick read.

Zoey Redbird sure does have a lot to deal with as a fledgling vampire. However with the help of her friends, NYX, her grandmother, her humanity and her faith she can overcome and knows just what to do. I am excited to read more about Zoey and her family (not just friends anymoe). Waiting patiently

for the next book to come out in the series.

This was my favorite of the House of Night books thus far. Maybe its because we get to step away (mostly) from Zoey's back and forth "I love him", "no but I love him" inner dialogue. However the excitement jolts up a notch or two as the plotline finally seems to advance a little further.

"Untamed"
takes up where "Chosen" left off. Zoe's friends are all mad at her her. She suddenly has gone from three boyfriends to none (cheers!) and Neferet is doing everything she can to declare a war against humans. Aphrodite is front and center which I enjoyed because I find her character the most interesting of the bunch. She is having more visions that foreshadow some of the big events in the book. And Stevie-Ray and her fledgings may be preparing to announce their existence.

Besides a good deal of action, this book benefits from the recent removal of a disgusting character and an even more disgusting and over the top storyline. A new character and potential love interest is introduced in new student Stark, whose back story was very original and interesting. But will his time with Zoey be short-lived?

I also have to give "Untamed" kudos for introducing us to nuns who work at the local cat shelter. This group of nuns is very open minded and good people who embrace Zoey and the fledglings and vampyres. This was much needed to put balance into the series. I have thought from the first book that the series seemed very anti-Christian. Its good to know that Zoey and her friends no longer have cause to believe that all Christians are evil or closeminded.

On the other side of that token, one of my complaints is also that besides the belief in their Goddess Nix and the new Christian themes that were introduced, the book also weaves (and strongly here) Cherokee beliefs, traditions, and myths into the mix. Wow, thats just a lot of stuff going on at once. They are creating circles for the Goddess, counting on a statue of the Virgin Mary for guarding someone, and burning herbs and doing feather rituals for protection. It makes this group of characters appear to believe in ANYTHING which isn't really a good thing.

The book ends with a huge bang and the gang is in a big predicament. While I still find a lot of faults with the inner workings of this series (and I wonder what the Cast's are really trying to get across to the Young Adult market they are appealing to), there is no denying this is an addictive series, and this particular volume offers up more bite than usual.

Best of the series (so far). Neferet is truly evil. They're kind of disruptive to the flow of the sentences and story. Very well told, near perfect storyline. Stark = best of Zoe's love interests. AHS/JD

This book was interesting. The ending was totally unpredictable and yet predictable at the same time. Zoey finally has her friends back, and her life is starting to return normal again, but then of course it doesn't. Neferet is planning something big, something evil, and Zoey is sensing something
Show More
scary every time she's in the darkness herself. Also to add to that, Aphrodite had a vision of Zoey dying, twice. How nice. There are a lot of funny parts to this book too. It's a really interesting read, and quite enjoyable.

Poor Zoey Redbird is all alone in the start of this book, well except for her enemy Aphrodite...turned friend? That's right. I'm glad that she's in it more too her character is so interesting to me.

Stevie Rae is more in the book too so we get more info on her 'new vampyre'ness as well as Aphrodite
Show More
and her new human-ness.

I'm pretty much back on the House of Night train, it was like a revamped (pun intended) series. Better written, lots of guessing and twist and turns. I can't wait to read the next book (which, unbelievably I don't own!)

Right off the bat, this is my favorite book of The House of Night series. Yes, it’s only book 4, but it is fantastic. This book doesn’t deal with Zoey’s love life as much as the others have. I’m all for the ooey-gooey bits, but this one does well without her having a boy (or man) in her
Show More
life. It focuses on Zoey coming into her own and she is beginning to portray the high priestess that she really is.

A new character, Stark, is introduced, but his part is just too short in this book, so I’m hoping there will be more to come of him in the future books. Neferet has truly gone evil and Aphrodite is, gasp, nice! I finally like Aphrodite and am happy to read about her snobby self without wanting to smack her. Zoey’s Grandma comes to stay at The House of Night and it is easy to feel the love all of the fledglings feel towards this woman. The Cast’s did a wonderful job of weaving Cherokee stories into the book for both background purposes and featuring the tales up front and center.

The novel is a quick read because it’s just so hard to put it down. The book comes to a close in the midst of the action and you are left unaware of what’s happened to some of the characters outside of the main group of friends. It is the biggest cliffhanger of the series thus far, leaving us waiting to find out how Zoey will save the world.
