this was a nice book to read about friendships. the stories that are told in this book, there are about 4 of them have little lessons at the end and show us that no matter what friendships last. the pictures were wonderful, painted in watercolor and werent over powering the words. the vocab is

fairly simple for those beginners

The theme involved the need to get several chores done before going to play or “racing the wind” as described by Cocoa. Both Cocoa and Kate rely on each other to get what they need for the day. They help each other out and realize that is what friends do.

Cowgirl Kate and her horse Cocoa have some scary experiences with stormy days. The book is a great way to let children learn how to take care of your animals and have different adventures with them.

In this title, we find out what happens at the ranch for Cowgirl Kate and Cocoa when it rains. We start with the buildup of the storm and discover that Cocoa is not fond of thunder. Then Cocoa fakes a cold to stay out of the rain, but changes his mind when he hears about all the good food he'll be

missing. Now that he's accustomed to the rain, Cocoa goes out to play in it but refuses to wear his rain sheet because he thinks it will make him look silly. Finally the two friends take a ride after the rain is gone and discover a beautiful rainbow. Lewin's watercolors convey the gray and gloomy day with ease, but really shine on the pages that follow the rain storm.
