Description

Fiction. Romance. Humor (Fiction.) HTML: It's true. I'm not what most people would call "pretty" and, well, high school was rough. Fast forward ten years and life is good... Until a bunch of jerks think it's hilarious to put the "butterface" (AKA me) on a wedding Kiss Cam with the hottest guy ever??and that old humiliation hits hard. I recognize him immediately. The sexiest cop in Waterbury and totally out of my league. But then he kisses me. And we totally forget the room, the crowd, everything. Then he tells everyone we've been dating for months. Soon everything starts to feel too real, from adorable fights over "necessary" tools to fix my broken porch to surviving a free-for-all dinner with his six siblings to picking up where our last kiss left off. But there's something he's not telling me about why he's really hanging around, and I'm pretty sure it has to do with my mob-connected brothers. Because this is not a make-over story, and Cinderella is only a fairy tale... Each book in the Hartigans series is STANDALONE: * Butterface * Muffin Top * Tomboy… (more)

Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..I have to say one of the things that I really appreciated was the the heroine was not considered beautiful, sometimes well a lot of times we read these books that everyone is in love with the heroine/hero in these books, everyone because they are so gorgeous.
Butterface was so not the case however I have to admit that at times I didn't want to hear anymore about her ugliness that broke my heart constantly hearing the bullying. That being said I was happy that Gina didn't let her keep her down she had a great job and great family her brothers loved and protected her, yes they could be overbearing but to me with what she went thru that was a small price to pay. So we have Ford, of course he would be gorgeous, hey it is what it is and he was lying to Gina and I wasn't about that part but we get a story and as he spends more time with her he gets feel for her true feelings. So I don't want to give a lot away because I am imploring you to grab a copy and Enjoy! because I am pretty sure that you will..

This is a lighthearted romantic novel well written with serious erotic segments. The lead female has inherited a less than attractive nose fro her grandfather "Tony the Nose" and buggy eyes and many people men and women seem to have difficulty moving on from her face to her personality. She is part
Show More
of a trio who call themselves "the undatables". Naturally the hunk is a hunk and sees past the veneer, all live happily ever after of course. The hero is one of 7 children so the Hartigan series has plenty of scope for romantic interactions.

This was a cute fluff read. A little bit romancey, a little bit mystery, a little bit sexy. The heroine is a great gal, but kinda looks like her grand dad in the nose department. (oopsie) .

I didn't love how much the author focused on her looks, but I guess that was the story in itself, and the end
Show More
result was a good parable.

Butterface by Avery Flynn

Fantastic contemporary romance. Slightly humorous with heartfelt tugs of lasting love after disappointment, betrayal, righteous anger, attraction, and family caused embarrassment.
A fast read that you won’t want to put down.

Alternating viewpoints between Gina and Ford.

I
Show More
listened mostly to the audio version alternating with an ecopy. I found it interesting that each viewpoint had them talking to themselves (with sarcasm and silently) but it was apparent they were male and female in their thinking. It was distinctly different voices both literally and conceptually. Very well done.

I’m looking forward to reading more by this author.

I really want to give the book 4 stars because of the average girl landing the hot babe and the HEA however, WE GET IT SHE IS UGLY, Also I use google play and choose the read-aloud option for work and this is the worst ever read aloud, It seriously took away from the whole book. Since when did

porch start getting pronounced PORK, It is broken English at best and forces you to read along. IT was horrid I cannot always read along and was often very lost and would have to start again where I had left off, maybe a different version but I use GP so good luck

Gina is a wedding planner and Ford is a police detective. They get put on a kiss cam at a wedding and their romance goes from there. Gina is supposed to be "ugly" and that point is driven home over and over. I wasn't able to get a truly good picture of her in my head from the book's description of
Show More
her. The only thing I got was that she had a big nose and her eyes were also large. Ford was portrayed as a hunky gift to the female species. Now, I did actually like Ford. He was attracted to Gina from the start and let others know he didn't appreciate their treatment of her. There are some lack of communication issues that I'm not a fan of in this book, but overall I didn't mind it.

Gina is a wedding planner, and Ford is a detective - pretty standard rom-com fare. Her family is involved with the Mafia, and Ford is investigating. He becomes involved with Gina when she finds a body in her attic. It really is a pretty typical romance, so I should like it more, right?
Wrong. First
Show More
of all, I found out the meaning of Butterface (I had no idea). Gina has a big nose, but the author repeatedly points out how ugly Gina is. I found that distasteful. I get it. But Ford didn't seem to see it as an issue, so while keep hammering on it.
My bigger issue was that Gina seemed a bit desperate and dumb. Ford tells her he must move in with her to protect her from possible murderers, even though the body in her attic died over ten years before. There were other examples where Gina just seems to accept improbable events, even though she's smart enough to run her own successful business. So, this was mostly a fail for me.
