Review is for the audio book as read by David Tennant.

We jumped in at book 9 having only seen the movies before (book 9 was the only available volume at the library when we needed an audio book), but aside from a few minor plot points I was able to follow along without any troubles.

Fast-paced and

character building, the book is filled with humor even in the darkest of events.

This is the book where the Dragon Furious returns to start the Dragon Rebellion and attempt to destroy all humans. Hiccup finds the Crown of the Wilderwest, and wins the sword fighting competition to become the King of the Wilderwest. The part where the final battle is with his own father is

brilliantly poignant. Just when it looks as though things are working out, it is revealed that Hiccup bears the Slavemark, and he is sent into exile, hunted by the Dragon rebellion, and Alvin the Terrible becomes King of the Tribes of the Wilderwest. It is a very bleak note to end on...

A dragon rebellion is coming and the vikings need a champion to be King, but becoming a champion is a perilous task. This is a wonderful children's series and one I enjoy even though I'm slightly above the intended reader age. The characters are quirky and the adventures outlandish and David

Tennant is the fantastic narrator that brings it all to life in the audio versions.
