"The #1 New York Times bestselling author of Year One and Of Blood and Bone concludes her stunning new trilogy praised as "A match for end-of-the-world classics like Stephen King's The Stand." After the sickness known as the Doom destroyed civilization, magick has become commonplace, and Fallon Swift has spent her young years learning its ways. Fallon cannot live in peace until she frees those who have been preyed upon by the government or the fanatical Purity Warriors, endlessly hunted or locked up in laboratories, brutalized for years on end. She is determined to save even those who have been complicit with this evil out of fear or weakness-if, indeed, they can be saved. Strengthened by the bond she shares with her fellow warrior, Duncan, Fallon has already succeeded in rescuing countless shifters and elves and ordinary humans. Now she must help them heal-and rediscover the light and faith within themselves. For although from the time of her birth, she has been The One, she is still only one. This third and final installment in the CHRONICLES OF THE ONE gives a satisfying and fully anticipated conclusion to the series. Roberts is a good writer who has command of her characters and story line. While the conclusion is apparent from the first pages of the
If you started this series, you must finish it. If you haven’t started it, do begin at the beginning. These are not stand alones and while you may enjoy the books if you read them independently, you will find yourself wondering what everyone else knows that you do not and being slightly befuddles by some of the references and the meanings of various actions. Do yourself a favor, read them in order.

I liked the world the author imagined. The fact that there were people that were always on the side of darkness rings true with how our world and societies work. This gave the story an element of realism to it that would be lacking otherwise. I liked that the author showed that people that are different, i.e. non-magicks and magicks, can work together to achieve a better world.
All around good series and I think most people would enjoy this.
Fallon Swift, now nineteen, raises an army of both magickal and nonmagickal to bring down the corrupt and to fight the dark. Can she
The trilogy began in “Year One” with the harrowing apocalyptic illness that changed the world forever and continued in “Of Blood and Bone” with the rise of The One. Now it concludes with an epic battle between the dark and the light. Anchored by the strong world-building throughout the trilogy, the unfolding narrative offers hope in the face of darkness as it speaks to the power of love and family. Filled with well-developed characters, the conclusion of the trilogy places a strong focus on Fallon who, as The One, is the ultimate hope for humanity’s continued existence.
In a world where acceptance of others, kindness, and love are often in short supply, readers will appreciate seeing triumph here as the folks of New Hope all play a part in bringing about the return of the light as they abandon chaos and despair in favor of progress and hope.
Highly recommended.
Full disclosure… Nora Roberts is my favorite author and I believe every word she writes is gold. That being said, I loved each book in the Chronicles of The One. The way it began with a magical
All in all, this was a good book. I thought there was a bit too much battling and not quite enough character time, but it was what the whole series had led up to. The final battle was just a little anticlimactic, too. Still, good book over all.

Series note: This is book 3 and continues the ongoing storyline begun in book 1. It cannot be read as a standalone.
In this installment, Fallon Swift, the One, has come into her power and is consolidating her army to spread the light and remove the forces of darkness in
While this trilogy has been entertaining overall, the 2nd and 3rd books do not live up to the expectations set by the 1st book. Year One is a spellbinding read as the scope of the deadly Doom makes its mark on the world and the characters. Unfortunately, the tension and suspense that characterize that book decrease in books 2 and 3, which focus more on Fallon as she fulfills her destiny. This inevitably results in the rest of the cast taking a back seat. This is unfortunate, as they are the reason book 1 is so engaging.
The romance between Fallon and Duncan, which has such potential in Of Blood and Bone fizzles out as the two simply accept that they are destined for each other and conveniently fall in love.
Finally, there are simply too many redundant descriptions of the conflict between the forces of light and dark as well as repetitious prophecies and speeches to motivate the combatants. It is just too much of the same.
Despite these issues, the trilogy is enjoyable and fans of Nora Roberts will have a good time with it.
