The title character is unnamed, but an introduction by author Lawrence Block says that this story was the jumping-off point for his long and delightful series of mysteries featuring Bernie Rhodenbarr, bookstore owner and gentleman burglar. That series is one of my favorites. This short story is,

well, very short, but it has Block's characteristic clever dialogue and humor, along with a twist ending that I, at least, did not see coming. If you have Kindle Unlimited and you like mysteries in general of the Bernie series in particular, it's worth your time. Show Less
