A book about what life was like as a child for Almazo (a boy) in a New York farm in the pioneer days of the late 1800s. Great illustrations and a good way to open eyes to what live was like in the past.

dinner and the family comes in and they all sit together and eat dinner. This is the story of Almanzo's life as a little boy on a farm. He loves being a Farm boy.

Personal Reaction: Great book. I wish life was more like this now. The book shows the family getting along, working together, and spending time together as a happy family.

1.) We could talk about things the children could do to help their parents out and find ways to spend time together.

2.) Work as a class to build a small farm made of little scraps and things we find around the classroom or at home, that we do not need. Maybe use the milk and juice cartons to make the house and glue a few together to make the stables. We can make animals out of clay.
