This book contains an amazing amount of information about water, its properties, and its characteristics. The photographs in this book make the topic of water incredibly interesting and are fascinating to look at. There are many pictures that are zoomed in to show such details as what a snowflake

looks like up close.

A Drop of Water is a wonderful picture book which shows the reader the different forms that water can go through. Wick uses stop action photography and magnifies things such as water dropletts and snowflakes. He explains the science behind each demonstration and form of water. At the end of the
Show More
book he shows the reader how to perform the experiments shown.

I loved this book! It has awesome photos of all the different things water can do. It was simple and exciting to read.

This book is informatioal because it shows how water reacts in different situations. The art is real life photography and computer drawn images. The content includes different topics such as water in the form of ice, when water meets air, when water flows up, etc. The reading level is sixth grade.

The curricular connection is science because it is about the different forms of water.

Stunning photographs show us the beauty and magic (science) of water. An in-depth and up-close look at water in its many forms.

Walter Wick is best known for his 'I Spy' books, but this book was just as intriguing. I loved his use of commercial photography to capture the essence of the various forms of water. My favorite picture was of the snowflake! I really thought it was fake, but soon discovered he had actually
Show More
photographed a snowflake. It was amazing! What a beautiful way to learn about Science!

Wick's beatiful, high-quality photographs and text illustrate the scientific properties of water, including surface tension, capillary attraction, bubbles, condensation and evaporation, and light refraction. Ideas for experiments are given.

This is a great book for introducing the properties of water to grades 3-6. It could also be used for the reference of creative water experiments that illustrate such properties. At least, the book is entertaining in that it includes a collection of absolutely amazing photos of water.

This book is great for older students to read to learn more about the science of water. It will get them thinking about something that seemed so simple at first. This would be a great book to do projects while reading this book. Who knew water could be so interesting!

Part of this book is in the reading curriculum that my district uses. I have never read the entire story. This is a great book, again, packed with lots of vocabulary and great information for readers. I love the pictures. I would use this book as a supplement to my States of Matter unit. This book
Show More
discusses all of the vocabulary that I discuss.

A wonderfully photographed book on the subject of water. Stop photography is used to show water in its many states and transformations. There are experiments and examples shown that can be recreated by a budding scientist. This book is easy to read and great to look at.

This book is so cool. I love the pictures. I can't imagine any child not being drawn in to read by the photos! The information in this book is complex but presented in a non-threatening way. All of these experiments could be recreated in the classroom and make a great hands on experiments. Great

vocabulary opportunities as well with words such as surface tension, spheres, adhesion, etc. It provides the reader with many adjectives to describe the phenomena of simple drops of water. Also, who doesn't love activities with bubbles. Always a success if you can handle the mess. I really enjoyed this book and I think it could be used for any age with the great pictures that accompany it.

An incredible book about water. Wick has produced a beautiful non-fiction picture book that delights and educates us about the properties of water. Older students will "get" it. It will enhance their current understanding. Younger students will get a beautiful introduction on the subject.

This book contains information about all the different properties of water and the different stages that it can go through. This book would be great for all elementary grades because of the information it contains. I gave it 5 out of 5 because I loved how it broke the information up into different
Show More
parts and would allow a teacher to have the children follow along.

I currently use this book in my unit about water cycle. The children will read this one over and over because of the information and photography alike. 1 graders to adult can find useful information in this book.

Walter Wick is a photographer who uses his amazing imagery to discuss the science of water. Wick uses the camera to capture images of water not possible to see with the eye.

This is a wonderful book. It tells you about everything from water surface tension, to how heat and cold affect water. We all know the basics, but this has beautiful pictures and great simple experiments that really show you how water behaves.

Showing the movement of water in different places is an amazing way to get children thinking. I was most impressed by the pictures and the commentary that went along with them. The water on the pin head was amazing, and this books being real picture is how Wick gets children and adults thinking.

This purpose of this informational book is to explain the science of water. This book covers a range of topics, from surface tension to soap bubbles to snowflakes. I really loved the pictures used in the book. It gave the reader a much better understanding of what the text stated. For example,
Show More
reading about what happens when water drops from a faucet, there were pictures of each stage. This helped me to understand how water elongates and breaks apart when falling. I also liked that the author included home experiments for the reader to try that related to each of the concepts presented. It is a great way to engage the reader and have the information really stick in his/her mind. Performing experiments allows the reader to gain better understanding of the information. Overall, I thought this was a very interesting book that provided knowledge about simple water concepts in the world.

Amazing photo illustrations to explain everything there is to know about water. the book discusses water vapor, evaporation, snowflakes, the water cycle, frost and dew, and more. It encourages kids to really think about what each droplet of water may have experienced. the end of the book supports
Show More
the ideas with some experiments that could be tried. My students have spent hours poring over the photos and ideas, this book promotes curiosity and the asking of questions.

In a word, this book is amazing! I absolutely love the photography, I like that he showed the pin multiple times throughout the book. I thought the text was clear, easy to follow, very informative, and covered a wide range of sub-topics all about "water." I think this is a great book for adults and

children.

The best part about this book is by far the photographs in this photographic essay about water. The photographer captures water splashing, zooms in on what a snowflake looks like, shows condensation as a series, and so many other fascinating things about water. The intended audience for this book
Show More
is probably older elementary children because it is very scientific. Some of the words may not be understood by younger children, but I think overall both younger and older children would appreciate the wonders presented in this book. I never really thought about water in this way. I think this book is a photographic essay because the photographs are incredible, and it explains the processes of water.
