I'm a fan of the TV series and this series of meta-fiction is the icing on the cake. But this isn't the best in the series, I found aspects of the story quite tiresome and convoluted and I'm definitely over anything to do with the death of Heat's mother. Hopefully the next book in the series will

Entertaining largely for its Castle connections--and for the geek references to Firefly and other Fillion projects. Plot lines could have been better developed, and Heat and Rook spend entirely too much time falling into bed together.

In addition, she works with federal law enforcement (one of whom is Rook’s former lover) in a desperate attempt to prevent a terrorist attack in New York City. As always, the relationship between Heat and Rook is fun to experience, as are Rook’s humorous comments. Heat’s intense, intuitive, tough and competitive approach to her job results in heated confrontations with her federal comrades. At times it seems they are hindering her investigations. This is a complex story that challenges Heat with plenty of violent action, and grave danger. The story also entangles the seemingly separate cases in a very interesting way. If you watch the Castle TV series, you are aware that Detective Nikki Heat alias Kate Beckett has been searching 11 years for the killer of her Mother. This book chronicles the end of that search. Fast read although not the most satisfying for this usually non reader of mysteries.

I enjoy the Nikki Heat series, probably more than I should. I like the old school mystery to the novels and the way the NYPD is portrayed is excellent. However, with the last novel Frozen Heat, as much as I liked it, I was apprehensive over the whole spy angle. I like spies but they belong in spy
So imagine my blessed sigh of relief when I saw a good resolution to the spy angle in Deadly Heat. Not only is Nikki struggling to close her murdered mother's case but also has to deal with a crazy serial killer who has his eyes set on her.
Deadly Heat was good but I'm more excited for the next one. I'm interested to see where this series goes with such a huge driving source finally braked.

Deadly Heat was good but I'm more excited for the next one. I'm interested to see where this series goes with such a huge driving source finally braked.

every episode of the series, most of them multiple times. The book will have a familiar feel for Castle viewers, with many scenes having parallels to scenes from the television series. The reader for the audio version has a speech pattern similar to Nathan Fillion's “Richard Castle”. He also captures “Kate Beckett” in his delivery of Nikki Heat's lines. The book could be read and enjoyed independently of the television series, but familiarity with the TV series will give readers a richer experience. Show Less
