Description

This first book in the Lindsay Chamberlain series is a good one. Ms. Connor weaves a tight plot and an excellent murder mystery. Lindsay is an archeaologist, so it makes sense that old bodies make up a big part of the story, but when the past starts creeping into the present, a murderer does not

hesitate to kill again to keep family secrets. I found the book a nice mix of past and present, and I liked Lindsay. I did find that sometimes she comes off a bit artificial, but I'm sure she will develop in future books. The archealogical lore is good, and since archeology has always been of interest to me, I liked that part of the book very much. It is perhaps unfair to compare this writing to that of Kathy Reichs, but I could not help doing that. There are some similarities, but Kathy Reichs' character development is much more practiced than Ms. Connor's (at least with this first book). I will read more to see if anything changes, and let's face it, this book had a darn good mystery to it. Show Less

Each character is very unique and full, awesome characters and it's a fast read. It flows very well and the plots all mingle and play well together. It's a solid book with a strong female protagonist that doesn't annoy the hell out of me half the time.

Indian burials. And those are just the tip of the plot lines in this book. There's also a bit of a love triangle (though, maybe it's more like a quadrangle), and there's even a bit of academic-ish intrigue.Each character is very unique and full, awesome characters and it's a fast read. It flows very well and the plots all mingle and play well together. It's a solid book with a strong female protagonist that doesn't annoy the hell out of me half the time.

I read this book because one of the librarians suggested it. I was hooked from then on. Be aware if you start to read Beverly Connor's books that she wrote two different series - Lindsey Chamberlin and Dianne Fallon. There were only four Lindsey Chamberlin books and all the others are Diane Fallon.

The two were very much alike, Both featured a forensic anthropologist who was curator of a museum in a small town. The museum has a public section and a private section that houses a very well equipped forensic lab. I really like the Dianne Fallon books. Good characters, with believable scenes. Show Less
