After all the excitement about the release of these books, I was a little disappointed. The title of 'Short Stories' implies that there are actual stories inside, but there aren't.

These books are for the devoted fans who want to know the background on the characters. It gives short biographies of

a couple of main characters, it lists all the ministers of the Ministry for Magic over the centuries, and gives the history of Azkaban. The only one I found interesting was the biography of Peeves the Poltergeist.

For me personally, it felt more like reading the authors own characters notes, which had then been fleshed out for this release.

My 11 year old son was disappointed too.

This short collection was enjoyable to read. The first chapter is dedicated to Dolores Umbridge, who gave me chills with her girlish demeanor and evil. Chapter two has a list of the Ministers for Magic (much like you would find in a dictionary) and an interesting history of Azkaban. In the third

chapter is the story of Horace Slughorn and short essays on potions, the polyjuice potion, and cauldrons Chapters four and five have very short stories about Quirinus Quirrell and Peeves the Poltergeist.

This book was designed for people like me who don't read the Pottermore site and who like to know the background of the world. What knocked this book down to four stars is the last two chapters were more lightweight than the others. Still, I enjoyed the information gathered here. I admit I still don't like Dolores Umbridge.

If you are a fan of Harry Potter and either don't have the inclination to read through the site or just want to have the information easily available, this ebook is a good resource.

This little collection has a story and analysis of Dolores Umbrage. Of course I always thought she was an unlikeable character, but Rowlings really hates her. She thinks, as far as evil is concerned, she is the equal of Voldemort. This seemed such a surprise to me, but then when I think of some of

the sweetly lying politicians I've seen like Phyllis Schlafly or Jeffrey Lord I understand. Their apparent likableness makes their maliciousness more effective than it would have been if shown at face value and decimates our faith in our ability to judge character correctly. I've read that there's a religion around Harry Potter, and I can see why. Rowlings has so much to say about so many things in a way that people relate to without consciously realizing its importance

This contains the stories of Dolores Umbridge, Horace Slughorn, Quirinus Quirell, and Peeve. I enjoyed reading this except Umbridge's story and the ministers of Magic. I got bored. Reading about Azkaban & Slughorn was interesting.

The background on Umbridge's life and peeves beginning was fun to read.

Synopsis: 'These stories of power, politics and pesky poltergeists give you a glimpse into the darker side of the wizarding world, revealing the ruthless roots of Professor Umbridge, the lowdown on the Ministers for Magic and the history of the wizarding prison Azkaban. You will also delve deeper

into Horace Slughorn’s early years as Potions master at Hogwarts - and his acquaintance with one Tom Marvolo Riddle.'
Review: These are fun stories that give a bit more background into the folks who inhabit Hogwarts.

I think this is the weakest collection of short stories from Pottermore. It covers ministry officials, Azkaban, Peeves, and a few other things. I did love learning more of the history of Dolores Umbridge and Professor Slughorn.

Lovely companion to the books.

While the majority of this writing is freely available on the Pottermore website, it's nice having them easily accessible in this ebook companion.

As its own piece of writing, it's a wonderful addition to the books and a welcome expansion of the backstory.

Short and sweet, I've read all the Pottermore pieces before, but I definitely delighted in filling some much-needed downtime in my (stressful, family funeral) weekend with details about this well-loved, always missed land.

I was told that most of these can be read on Pottermore for free, however as a huge fan of J.K. Rowling I did not mind paying the $2.99 to read it all in one place.

First book I am reading while I dive into Harry Potter again. The title is a bit misleading, these are not short stories in the

slightest. In this quick read, you get the following:

- Lengthy profiles / biographies on Dolores Umbridge, Horace Slughorn, and Quirinus Quirrell.
- Timeline about the Minister's for Magic
- Fun facts about Peeves
- (Not so) Fun facts about Azkaban
- Random information about Polyjuice Potion & Cauldrons

Misleading title aside, I did enjoy this quick read. Looking forward to the next piece in Pottermore Presents.

A bit uneven with the first two chapters much longer and detailed than the last two. But we finally learn that Umbridge suffered the fate she deserved! Hurray
