Phryne Fisher has been asked to be The Queen of the Flowers for a local parade. Along with this task, she is given four teenage girls to groom as her assistants
Phryne is a woman who is not embarrassed, afraid or timid about her sexuality. She is a wealthy woman in the roaring '20s after all. Mercifully, the bedroom scenes are briefly described and passed over without the annoying full descriptions of what can go on in the bedroom of healthy adults. One doesn't really read these books for the depth of the mysteries, but for the delicious atmosphere of Australia in the 1920s and Phryne's wonderful cohorts.
I have watched the whole television series, which is wonderful, but this story was quite different from the episode which mirrored it on TV; that made for some nice and interesting surprises.
Review: This was wholly intriguing with several side plots that were quite interesting. I particularly liked the elephants.
I would not recommend this book to people who has never read any other book in this
On a general level a very good mystery.
