The language of the book beautifully describes sounds, listening, and rhythms of weaving. Unfortunately the illustrations do not always match the text and left me feeling disjointed. For example text refering to "foot pedal" joins an image where a foot pedal isn't used. The "Clack. Clack. Swish -

pull back" remind me of a large loom while the image shows a loom held in the lap, where the sounds would likely be absorbed into the weaver's clothing.

sort of history of weaving; really nice - good information about groups and how their weaving differs from other areas

Local notes

A lyrical picture book that shares the history and practice of weaving through the centuries and around the world, as imagined by a young weaver learning her craft. Her family’s weaving practice helps her feel connected to the past and hopeful for the future. It shows her that each of us is a tapestry: a unique, rich, and beautifully interwoven combination of traits and traditions, with a pattern that is still emerging.
