I bought this book because I love Arthur Rackham illustrations, but I enjoyed the dark fairy tales too. Monsters die horribly, people get eaten, even Little Red Riding Hood remained in the wolfs belly! I'm recommending this to my 13 year old son.

Some of these stories were new to me, but on the whole this was a fairly standard collection of fairytales. They're well told and nicely illustrated, but I wouldn't say this is standout fare.
