This story about someone tracking some kidnappings into an alternate version of London invented by Jack the Ripper looks like it will be a gripping page turning read but the concept is wrecked by unexciting writing and action scenes which aren't very actiony. A complete bore.

it's pkay but it isn't as good as other books. I think this book is more for 9-12 year olds not 17 year olds.

Darkside is the first in a series. It's a simple read, but has enough interesting elements to make it a page turner. Recommended for anyone looking for a fun read where vampires flit in and out, werewolves run around on the streets, and you are hardly safe in your own front yard.

Local notes
Jonathan's home's been attacked, his dad's in an asylum and he's running for his. He has stumbled on the city's greatest secret: Darkside. Incredibly dangerous and unimaginably exciting. Darkside is ruled by Jack the Ripper's children - a place where nightmares walk the streets.
