One of my favorite Goytisolo efforts. Paris is under siege, Arabic script has replaced Latin, public toilets are the new lyceum, a pornographer is a prophet and revolutionary. Each section is adorned with an ironic chapter heading, something out of Godard, and yet it never appears tired. These
